Mainly because we wasted 3 months of the season with that useless prick Gary O'Neil frittering away games in disorganised chaos. If the form shown under Vitor was extrapolated over a full season I think we would be around 5th, certainly higher than Palace. As for our current run, yeah we keep hearing how shit the opposition is but for a team of our kind, recovering from a terrible period under O'Neil, to be at the point that we can record 6 consecutive Premier League wins for the first time since the 50s is ok. Not long before this run we did beat Villa and Bournemouth, they are pretty high up.

We are not underestimating a game away to you boys though, of course you are always one of the toughest opponents we will face but unlike under O'Neil, we go into every game now thinking we stand a chance, we didn't before Vitor came in
For all blues thinking this is an easy or straightforward win (which of course I hope it is) we almost always have a tough game v Wolves. Aside from the KDB masterclass at Molineux a couple of years back, I can’t think of too many like that.
And I go back to the 74 league cup when my Mum had bought a special celebratory cake cos we had Lee, Law, Bell, Summerbee and Marsh - how could we not be winning?
I also remember 1977 when we were favourites for the league and bought Mick Channon. We were brought down to earth 2-0 at Maine Rd, despite Andy Gray being a homosexual according to the Kippax.
So the lads and crowd need to be on top of it all as a win is so important….. and we are now finding outrun in form as usual

He needs to start impacting games more, otherwise we might as well be playing with only ten men on the pitch ..... i don't want to remember him scoring the odd goal here and there, i want to be looking back on any given game that he plays in thinking he was outstanding .... it's not only that but first team chances are hard to come by, and even harder to 'lock down', and we have a number of promising kids playing well in our youth and EDS sides just waiting for their big chance too at the moment.

He's only young I know, but he has to seize the opportunity ..... unless he makes a real impression on Pep, and gains a fair degree of trust from him, he could well find that his first team chances become even more limited.

McAtee reminds me a little of David Platt in the sense that he often doesn’t contribute much on the ball but has an eye for goal and gets into great positions. However his finishing, considering the chances he gets, needs to be better. He does press pretty well in fairness to him.

As he doesn’t contribute enough on build up, I can’t see him staying but he will have a very good career.

Do you apply the same criteria to Savinho...

Absolutely i do ....... but players like Savinho and Doku are part of McAtees problem, it's players like them who will keep him out of the team if he fails to make an impact in games ...... youngster Nico O'Reilly isn't holding down a first team place because Pep
likes his haircut ... it's because he's doing a great job, and is 'earning his corn'!

I've nothing against McAtee, but any kid hoping to break into any first team nowadays is putting his place, and probably his future, at risk if he drifts in and out of games ..... if it leads to him getting 'shipped out' on loans, then that could be the last we see of him.

Has Savinho made a true impact in any game he has played. Doku has but only in his role as an impact sub and that at the moment is his get out of jail card

Although they’re well in the bottom half, they’re on a real run of form and will be confident going into the game.

A real test that I believe we can overcome.

I don't think that, at the moment, either Doku or Savinho are really consistent enough to hold down a regular place in the team, but if McAtee isn't either, then either of these two , or even one or two others, might get the nod to play before him ... and that's never gonna help McAtee, or satisfy his craving for more first team game time.

Like I've said elsewhere if he doesn't make enough impact in games at City to satisfy not only Pep, but the City heirachy too, he could easily find himself 'farmed out' on loan elsewhere, and we all know what that could end up in for any young player .... either he likes it there, and seeks a permanent move ... or City might push him towards another loan move ( or two), god knows where..... and all the time he'll be getting older and moving further and further away from the likelihood of any future at City.

Young players, at ANY club, HAVE to seize their chance whilst its there, as Amad Diallo is finding out at United .... it's so easy for them to slip back down the pecking order again, and out of sight, because of their own erratic performances, or the rise of others.

Lol, you're right .....i was at that 74 League Cup game myself, albeit stood with about 50 other City fans in the Wolves end of Wembley, and it was an uncomfortable watch, despite our all star forward line!

We parked our coach up in Harrow on the Hill, had a few beers, and then got the tube to the ground .... we were probably guilty of being a bit 'over confident' that day, because of the big names we had in our side, and neglected to really consider the threat from Wolves .... and especially from the likes of Derek Dougan and John Richards.

As for the present day lot ... they may have 'not really played anybody of real note' during their recent six game winning run, but those results will still have filled them with great confidence, and confident opponents are always likely to be tricky to play ..... our minds need to be fully focused from the start of the game on Friday night!

I was at the 1974 League Cup Final as a very young kid with my father. I still have my flag. It looks like a handkerchief compared to modern flags.

Yeah but everyone can cherry pick their best results and say "we would be xx" (where xx is some low number). The table doesn't lie. You guys are a decent team but my guess is this time next year you will be in a similar position. Just my opinion which is not worth much admittedly.

Ortega
Nunes Dias Gvardiol reilly
Lewis Bernardo Kovacic
savinho KDB Marmoush

That’s the 11 he is probably going for but you never know with him
