Best games of football you've ever seen?

That Barcelona 5-0 Madrid sticks in my mind. I'd never seen anything like it before. It was fuckin incredible.
And to make it even better I watched it with a housemate who was a Catalan and Barcelona fan and we were both going crazy together.

But is a 5-0 a good game?

It sounds very one-sided to me.

City 4 - 0 Real Madrid is right up there, as is England 2 - 0 Germany in the recent Euros.

The first one because we played near perfect football and the second for the very different kind of excitement you get when the national team win a game like that.

Newcastle 3 City 4 - we became champions with that result. End to end stuff keeping us entertained throughout
For some weird reason there is a video clip of the match on the OS - in black and white naturally - I have just captured it to view again on the TV in large format.

Brazil vs Italy World Cup 1982

Greatest game ever in my opinion, two magnificent teams packed with great players producing one of the greatest and most emotional occasions I have ever witnessed.

I have seen many great games, but this one tops them all. I was rooting for the underdog, and I was (until now) so happy with the result. Simply, unforgettable.

Seen in person…

Hibs 6 Hertz 2. 22/10/01
Dortmund 5 Bayern 2 12/5/12
Pogon Szczecin 3 GKS Katowice 4 (can’t remember date or year)
Caledonian 2 St Johnstone 2 early 90s

On tv

Romania 3 Colombia 1. 1994 WC.

Being an old timer
For me it's still the FACup Semi 1981 at VP
Beat Ipswich 1-0 courtesy of the PP Free Kick
In the Holt End and pure Delerium when it hit the back of the net

Hearts 4 Hibs 4.
Happy new Weir game.
Hibs 4/2 up but Hearts scored 2 in the last minute of injury time.
Qpr 2 City 3.
YaYa scores with a towering header.
A great away day.
Germany v France. 82 world cup semi final.
Schumacher tacke game.

Our final day of the season title wins. Great comebacks when you consider the pressure. Hollywood stuff

What year was it Middlesbrough played the UEFA final? They had two mad games in the second leg of the quarter and semi and needed about 3 goals in each, went absolutely gung ho in attack and pulled it off twice. Not great games per se but full of drama.

Our game vs Newcastle last season was great too, as far as modern Premier League games go. Both teams made it a great game and Bobb's winner at the end was special.

Liverpool v AC Milan, 2005. What drama! Coming back from being torn a new one in the first half.

Us vs dippers at Etihad we won 2-1 Aguero and Sane goals and Stones goal line clearance. Meant quality on the pitch insane atmosphere. Loved nearly the whole ground singing “We’re coming for you, we’re coming for you, you scouse bastards, we’re coming for you.” And indeed we did just that. Made sweeter by hearing some deluded dipper pre-game on radio banging in how not a single city player would’ve made their starting 11. God I miss those heady days of devastating attacking football

Entertainment:
Spurs vs City FA cup 4th round.

Quite possibly the greatest ever comeback in any football game ever.
I remember after watching it, I was just "WTF" for the next few hours.

Barton, Anelka, Them, Us, The history.
Absolutely honoured to have watched it live.

Pub-value:
1994 Italy vs Ireland. Absolutely mad scenes.

Quality wise?
Hmm.
City vs RM, 2023 CL semi 2nd leg.
I consider this our footballing peak.
