As much as it pains me to see him leave, the future of the club probably hinges on using his wages for new players. De Bruyne can't do what he used to. He was excellent last night but still miles off the De Bruyne of old unfortunately. If he took a significantly reduced salary then we would keep him, but we can't afford to pay someone as much as he gets when they have a bad injury record and we need new recruits.
If people were asked directly if they wanted De Bruyne or Wirtz as we could only have one, you'd have to be cut throat and take Wirtz. And that's the way we will be looking at things.
Gundo probably isn't on the same money but he is the player that should be going instead of De Bruyne for me. How he is still getting on the pitch completely baffles me. O'Reilly had a poor spell over about 30 seconds and got hooked. But Gundo can play despite being poor for 90minutes.
