Don't forget Schmeichel saving a penalty against Bergkamp in the last minute in The FA Cup Semi Final.

They had more fucking Jam than Hartleys that season
They did, and in spades, but to win that particular Treble you need things to fall your way; impossible to do so unless that happens because the denouements of each completion are within a month of each other. Too many moving parts for fortune not to play a part, as we found in 2019.

In 2023 we had the benefit of an absence of any significant injuries, a relatively benign run of PL fixtures after we beat Arsenal in late April and the fact we played a shit team in the FA Cup Final.

& Lukaku up front for Inter.

Notice sly sports and Spit explaining where dippers need to strengthen and who to buy. Must’ve missed the articles about where we needed strengthening after our title wins.

Don't forget in the Domestic Treble season (something never achieved in the history of English football before or since), we were unlucky not to the CL too.

This squad has been incredible
This, this and this. So true an incredible achievement never mentioned and forgotten by the masses. Remember slur Alex said that it was impossible to do.

I wonder if this will be policed to the same cartel standards as their HYS’s

I can think of one question already.
‘What percentage of articles, broken down by year, by Simple Simon over the entire time he has been ‘chief football writer’ (or whatever it is) are directly about Manchester United, mention Manchester United and don’t mention Manchester United.’
And a supplemental question
‘In a similar vein, what percentage of foreign trips/news pieces for Simple Simon - broken down in the same way’

Triggered by the non UK relevant article (and jolly) by Simple Simon on the Turkish match between ex United managers Mourinho & Ole… with the only reason he flew out there being … they’re ex-United managers.

It would be quite easy for City to do the analytics on how many words they get written about them compared to say a team in 14th place in the league.
