Snooker World Championship 2025

Between September 2019 and December 2022 he made bets on snooker matches knowing they were fixed is in breach of the rules, so he's not a cheat, Hahaha, Boy some people are clueless. He made more money in them 3 years of cheating than what he's won tonight

Defo fully involved and doing it for 3 years only gets him a 20-month ban ? something stinks
Snooker has been looking for a player from China to take the game to new levels of sponsorship and overseas

Snooker will be based overseas in the next 4 years, plus the world championship will be in China, the winner will be taking home between $5million $10million, instead of £500.000
Serious question mate, do you see it as a negative if it moves to China for bigger prize money, for me its shit that tradition can be bought, but it will also develop the sport?

As much as people don't like it, foreign investment in sport is no bad thing IMO. But the investors want something in return.

Boxing is a prime example, since the Saudi's have taken over, They have got the deals done for the top fights to happen, and Boxers are now earning more in for one fight arranged by Turki Al-Sheikh than they could imagine!

Money in sport is fantastic, when it's invested in the sport the right way!

Tradition is a much more important factor than money, the only people not agreeing with that are the money men.

Sport is generally changing for the worst year on year IMHO.

I heard one of the ex-professional pundits talking about the case and that is exactly what he said happened.

Is it an offence to not let the authorities know that you are aware of other players cheating/betting in sport?

So if any West Ham player knew about Paqueta betting, or any Aussie Cricketers knew that Smith and Warner were tampering with the ball. Would they be charged if they kept quiet? If true, I never knew that ha!

Obviously him betting on other matches is against the rules?

It's important to us as fans mate. But what about the players?

as someone said before in this thread, Snooker players have to fly all over the world. Paying for flights, accommodation, coaches etc out of their own money. The extra money world be welcomed by them.

Look at Dart's, money has improved it no end. The winner at the Ally Pally this year will get £1m! That's progress done right

I'm with you and I accept it's going that way, but once you remove the idea that anyone can compete given the chance and take away the accessibility it's only a generation away from killing the sport because the core fans are gone.

Less snooker halls and we have less players, the more the sport moves abroad the less interest youngsters here will have in snooker. Fast forward 50 years and Asia will be trying to grow the game here.

There's very few snooker halls in the UK anyway.

Hence the reason why we have older top players with no real youthful prospect behind them. Snooker halls littered the country until the game was slaughtered by actively moving it abroad.

More snooker on telly means more people wanting to take it up, that in turn means busier snooker halls that stay open. Hearn and co have actively moved most of the focus to China to make money.

Fantastic tournament. I don’t know if the winner is on the take or not but he can play snooker.

I hope they can keep the sport clean.

Unfortunately watching professional sport is no longer for the working man…….
