So Bild say in a speculative article that Wirtz wants Bayern only. That may be true but there’s been a different story elsewhere from some well connected individuals saying Wirtz wants City but his family want Bayern. Doesn’t mean he’s definitely going to Bayern yet but I wouldn’t rule anything out. Wait till City start briefing before getting too disappointed or excited.

If it’s true that his family are pushing for Bayern then I’d have concerns because who’s to say they won’t keep beating that drum even if he does come to City.

The move of Florian Wirtz (22) from Bayer Leverkusen to the record champions is becoming more and more likely.

According to SPORT BILD, the German international has now informed Bayer coach Xabi Alonso (43) that he doesn't want to move to Real or City. He only wants to move to Munich!

This means that the Wirtz family (father and advisor Hans has a very close relationship with Uli Hoeneß) must have reached a fundamental agreement with FC Bayern during the numerous contacts in recent months. The timing of the transfer remains unclear; Wirtz still has a contract with Leverkusen until 2027.

Bayer CEO Fernando Carro (60) had already spoken of a transfer fee of “at least 150 million euros” for Wirtz in an interview with “Radio Marca” (Madrid) in April, but later admitted this as a mistake.

However, transfer negotiations with Bayern are likely to pick up speed soon. Florian Wirtz is already the record champions' top transfer target for this summer.

And Wirtz only wants to move to FC Bayern . Real Madrid and Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, which has shown great interest in the midfield strategist, have reportedly not been a serious option for the Wirtz family for some time.

This is also personally important information for Alonso (his contract with Leverkusen runs until 2026), as he is considered the designated successor to Carlo Ancelotti (65) at Real Madrid, whose departure after this season appears to be finalized. Previously, it was said that Alonso would want to take Wirtz with him in his potential move to Los Blancos.

Neither Bayer Leverkusen nor FC Bayern wanted to comment on the matter when asked by BILD.

Does make the decision to force kdb out a bit more questionable however imo

Bild will certainly have a decent inside track.

The fact they are reporting he only wants them is different from stating they have him.

Clearly trying to apply pressure to Leverkusen on behalf of themselves and Wirtz.

Don't think so it was time to replace KDB , if not with Wirtz then with somebody else and I'm fine with that.

When City feel like he’s decided to go to Bayern they’ll brief accordingly.

Considering the noise since Friday I can’t take the article that seriously if only for the line that City haven’t been an option for some time.
 
How long is left on wirtz contract? I hope it's 3+ years so they can take bayern to the cleaners. Don't accept a penny less. If they try go lower, go higher in response.

It’s not even his dad. Wirtz is someone who just doesn’t wanna leave the country. People who know him know that. He would get home sick quite easily
 
don't delude yourself - we need him. desperately. whether or not we replace KDB with someone of wirtz's caliber and talent or someone in the (no disrespect) eze/MGW caliber will be one of the most important factors in determining where this club is heading in the next few years
 
So, IF (and its still an if) this report is true, who`s next on the list? Simons? Cherki? Trincao? Eze? Sancet? Sudakov?
