President Trump

Not sure it is distraction. The people influencing Trump are Christofascists (twice I have used this term in one thread within a couple of minutes of each other).

Not doubting there is a huge Christofascist influence in the current administration, but their MO is to flood the zone with absolute nonsense so they can try and slip the more sinister stuff under the radar.

It’s the best at hormone drenched gristle. Hint: the French buy tons of British beef, but keep it quiet for PR reasons.
Yeah, that might be what happens in the UK. The American beef might not go on the shelves as steaks, etc, but it'll end up in the ready meal lasagne or the burgers if it's cheaper.

I've not been back to the UK since the Australian deal happened. Are the shelves full of Aussie steaks?

It's genuinely hilarious. He's literally just picking people he's seen on TV. Judge Judy for the Supreme Court.

Incidentally, it's pretty damning that when he picks people he's seen on TV, 99% of them turn out to be quacks. American TV has a real expert problem, it seems.
You eould have to be clinically insane to employ her to clean the toilets, let alone....

Oh, never mind

Detroit Three automakers blast Trump UK trade deal
Story by David Shepardson and Kalea Hall

WASHINGTON/DETROIT (Reuters) -A group representing General Motors, Ford and Stellantis blasted President Donald Trump's trade deal announced with the United Kingdom, saying it would harm the U.S. auto sector.

British carmakers will be given a quota of 100,000 cars a year that can be sent to the United States at a 10% tariff rate, almost the total Britain exported last year, compared to 25% for Mexico and Canada and nearly all other countries.

"Under this deal, it will now be cheaper to import a UK vehicle with very little U.S. content than a USMCA compliant vehicle from Mexico or Canada that is half American parts," said the American Automotive Policy Council, which represents the Detroit Three automakers. "This hurts American automakers, suppliers, and auto workers."

There's got to be a pun in there somewhere about Donald and ducks......

Not that I know of. We still import lots of inferior Irish beef.

Yesterday was VE Day - Victory in Europe. Trump has re-named it and on his truth social platform illustrated it with a modified picture of Marine raising the flag on IWO JIMA in the PACIFIC WAR - he and his team have the lowest intelligence and respect on the planet

A controversial image. I can't be arsed to look it up, but as i recall the original troops who fought up the hill raised the flag and a photo was taken. The scene was then reenacted by some other troops and other photos taken. The issues around who is in what photo and why are much debated and books have been written on the subject.

What Trump has here is I think a picture of a statue based on the second photo.

More appropriate for VJ Day.
Trump seems to think the US was responsible for winning the war in Europe. That was not so, not by a long chalk.

We are getting American beef 100% the best in the world,it’s a breakthrough deal. Zero tariffs for British steel, car tariffs drop to 10%, Starmer happy, Trump happy.
Hormone loaded American beef? Seriously? It's not the best in the world either. I've had many a steak in the US and invariably it's been a beautiful cut and perfectly cooked but often bland to tasteless. The best steaks I've ever had by a country mile have been in South Africa.
