Southampton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I do wonder why he is played with our slow turgid play. He plays best running on through balls.
He looks pissed and rightly so but he still should be doing more, bully defenders, whatever it takes.

It didn’t. There’s never much available in January & those players are more for the future. However, out of interest who do you think was available that we should have bought?
no idea, but i wouldn't have bought any of the 4 that were, possibly marmoush

It's confusing we don't play to Haalands strength. It's confusing Haaland signed for another 10 years.

I won't turn on the team but there seems to be a problem, is it Haaland or is it Pep.
Let's hope it's Pep, because Haaland has got a longer term contract.

Ah well it could be worse.

We could be signing Morgan Gibbs-White this summer...

Oh wait...

I rate Gibbs-White but if he’s the calibre of player we’re going for then we are sleep walking into Wenger’s Arsenal.

£170 million we spent this January and none of them walk into the worst City side in a decade. Add another £100 million on Nunes and Phillips and serious questions need to be asked about the recruitment.

The alternative argument is that Pep needs to up his game and start improving players like he used to. Doku, Savinho, Grealish and dare I say Haaland are all worse players under his system.

Marmoush is a good buy. I also believe the others will come through. Even Rodri was poor in his first year - never mind his first 4 months

I wouldn't go that far. He shouldn't have started today and after finally looking settled and putting a run together Pep shouldn't have made six changes when every point is vital. He probably thought any team he put out would win but Southampton are a fucking weird side against us, always have been no matter how shit they are playing against everybody else.
On Haaland....we may have to.make a decision on him as we have looked worse with him playing for a while now. A strong, more skilful pacy forward would suit our system.
Without a doubt, if we could get a suitable fee for him we could bring in a player more suited to our style. That is, if Pep is staying and wants to oversee a rebuild..

Despite the season we’ve had, it never occurred to me that we might drop points today. Didn’t even consider the possibility. A dire afternoon.

Only positives I can think of - 1) we didn’t lose, 2) there’s no masking the issues in the squad, particularly midfield. Winning the final 3 games, maybe nicking 2nd and winning the cup may have let Pep think we’re not so bad after all.

Sure we’ll be fine for a CL place, but what a shitshow this season has been.
F A Cup and top 5,not bad.
