Southampton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

There's a lot of blame on haaland here but he continues to be misused. The one time we played him through he puts it on a tee for two players. Lobbing the ball in when marked by 4 defenders, anyone is gonna look shit.

All I'd like to know is what pep is genuinely thinking sitting in his technical area watching that. He can't genuinely think we've got this, this is good.

It was slow, pedestrian, wrong decisions in key areas, no movement at times, are we afraid to shoot. A team with 11 men in their box. Hit the thing from the edge and get a ricochet or anything.

Haaland should have started from the bench, or at least marmoush on the left as they both didn't deserve to start that.

I agree and what’s frustrating about the way we play is that the likes of Marmoush, Doku, Savinho, Grealish and Haaland excel on the transition, but this keep the ball at all costs, masters football shite Pep insists on is clearly not getting the best out of them.
Watching Erling's goals during his first season - at least, prior to the world cup break - they were nearly all scored with him on the move. How many times do we see him receive the ball other than to feet, these days?

It's true that teams don't want to allow us room behind them, but over the past couple of seasons there have been so many chances to let him run, but where we've just played a square ball instead.

We're doing the same to Omar - and he's also looking dis-chuffed with it at least a couple of times per game.

To say that Haaland should be ditched is a stretch, though - or has he just been lucky 115 times?

We did try and hit a few from the edge of the box, unfortunately it was usually Akanji. This is the problem

With Villa winning it looks like Pep’s arrogance could be really costly. I don’t trust him with future signings and his ideas now seem outdated. The game has moved on and so should we.
I'm bored to death of his tactics now.

Sideways sideways sideways.

Next season will be the same old shit.

Yep. A lot of us realised how important today's game was to our FA Cup Final plans. The FA Cup Final is now secondary to the the Bournemouth and Fulham games. It didn't have to be that way.
Sounds weird as well but football is/was all about trophies still is in the grand scheme of things in a sense, but champions league is essential,so unfortunately trumps the FA cup sadly it’s where football is now ..

I'm still fucking fuming.
Me too man. What an absolute sh*t show of a game. No imagination. No urgency. I really wanted us to move up over Arsenal. KDB. I love you Kev. But, this is goodbye. Bernardo. Love you too, but, goodbye. How many training days did we have for this game? Pep in his post game interview said he didn't think Southies were gonna play like that. Uh, excuse me??

Wonder what people's opinions would be if the choice was FA cup and 6th or no FA cup and top 5.

They say people get more conservative over time - this City side looks exactly like that, taking the safer option rather than trying to turn teams

Everyone wil say ‘hindsight’ and all that, but when that team was announced I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be smooth sailing at Southampton.
