To be fair to Wirtz, to do what he did last year with Leverkusen and win their first ever league title and go invincible whilst being instrumental at 20 years old was unbelievable. Also getting to the Europa League final

Foden - as much as I love him - I don't think could have done that to a team like Leverkusen at 20 years old.
Leverkusen aren't the underdog you think they are. A heavyweight pharma company backs them, and he dropped an absolute stinker in the final.

As POTY I expected more but Foden's poor performances have been a major factor in City's decline. He may have issues that need sorting but this season I have not seen anything from him that merits a first team start. We play better without him.

There is something wrong that if not fixed quickly then best let him go. How long has he been a passenger?

Or maybe the other way around

Maybe he can only play well when we are good. He's only ever played senior club football in one team under one manager. We've seen he doesn't really perform for England. Its easy to point the finger at national team managers but the likes of Saka don't seem to struggle under them.

Maybe it tells us how he plays is heavily reliant on how well Pep's team is doing?

Maybe he is just a system player in pep's system like people have said before...and if the system isn't working that well, neither is he.

I may be wrong, but it would be easy to argue the case going off how both player and team have declined at the same time and how we've seen he doesn't really cut it when put in another team like England

The same Pharma company doesn’t invest that much for years. It’s not even possible with the 50+1 in Germany. They were called Vizekusen for a reason. So yes it’s astonishing. Going invincible is crazy enough. Dropping a striker in a final can happen to anyone especially at 20.

It's hardly like he did it alone. He was just part of a very good team in a season where all the stars aligned for them.

He looks like he has lost focus big time and certainly that seems to happens to boat loads of footballers in this new age of social media and constant adoration

It’s so funny watching the city media industrial complex apologise for foden, who doesn’t have the excuse of age or injury really and has let the club down massively this year. 1 year of sustained ineffectiveness for a player this good is shocking

Very true he has not at his best, but name a midfielder in our team that has been. Think we have over played a lot of them.

Maybe hes just had enough of football.
It looks like it to me.
I really hope he sorts it out.
But another 12 months like the last 12 and he's done

If he has the serious health issues rumoured would the club not take him out of the limelight and seek medical help?

If this is down to form and desire then Foden's career is in serious trouble, he looks utterly lost, no motivation, passion gone and he has become a moaning weak character on the pitch, the drop off from previous levels is alarming to say the least.

Is Foden going to be our Rashford?

Good thing he's not Raz, phew media meltdown would have been on biblical proportions

Most forum members have presented him as a generational talent until this season. He simply is not, that can be said for Yamal, Neymar, Wirtz, Bellinghem, etc but not for Foden.

The sooner we lower our expectations of him, the happier we will be.
Did you not watch him last season?

If it's mentally it's different you can get help to gradually come through it and playing football will help but I think now he is thinking about what he is doing on the ball his instincts has gone at the moment he has to work hard to get it back..

I just think football is no longer the No1 priority in his life and with young kids and financial secured for life that's somewhat understandable but again it's no good for us as a club and that's all that matters.
