I've gone full Bert on this one.
Voted lose.
I think the SH match will have been massively damaging to the mentality of the team and especially Pep who will now utterly overthink it.

Different levels of pressure as well. We'll be under it to win, CP will be having a day out.

I saw zero fucks from the lads yesterday. That will win you nowt.

——-—————Ederson———————————
Nunes ——Dias—— Gvardiol ——O’Reilly
Doku- —-Silva ———Kova ————Grealish
————-Haaland— Marmoush——————-

We will get beat comfortably, no desire in lots of those who played yesterday. Couldn’t even be bothered to clap the fans at the end.

I hope I start to feel more excitement about this game soon. Right now I just see jeopardy all over the place against a team who have been real trouble in recent years. We’ve been on a great run but yesterday was a shock. Didn’t get the team selection at all and didn’t get the performance. Then villa won. Need to get that cup final vibe going soon but this thread only confirms my own downbeat mood about things. Should be excited at another cup final! Not long ago we dreamt of getting to Wembley. Come on lads let’s salvage something from what suddenly became a transitional season.

Palace will, at least, come out to play. Which in turn will give us more room to play. Haaland and Omar will play. I would like to see Gonzalez in midfield with Kova and Gundo.
My team.
Eddie
Nunes Dias Gvardiol Nico
Kova Gonzalez Gundo
Debryne Haaland Omar

This is going to be a very close game sadly missing the game.
On that any blues know a good bar in Salou to watch the game ?

I know it's a crazy idea but I'd just go with the side that beat them 5-2 a few weeks ago.
That side had Lewis and McAtee in it!

The game will no doubt influence how Pep sets up. The first 25 minutes will have absolutely alarmed him when we could easily have been 4-0 down. I suspect he will go ultra defensive again to limit the transition and just hope that we find a way.

Palace had Guehi missing that day and took Matata off at HT for god knows what reason too.

This game is 50/50 for me. I think if Palace play as well as they did against Villa then that could be enough to get the win. I just hope they freeze a bit and we put in a good performance like first half against Forest.

You never know which City will turn up this season and knowing we now need to beat Bournemouth will almost certainly mean Pep has one eye on that and picks a team for this game with that in mind.

For me if you take the season as a whole. The players who deserve a place in the Cup final are:
Ederson
Nunes Khusanov Gvardiol O'Reilly
Kovacic Bernardo
Kevin
Savinho Haaland Marmoush

And when I say deserve I'm setting the bar low as many of these players have been very poor at times. Savinho started well then tailed off, Kev was injured but has shown glimpses.

Of the XI only Khusanov Gvardiol O'Reilly Kovacic and Marmoush have been consistently decent.

The big enigma is Grealish. He's hardly played at all, and when he has he's been no worse than the majority.

Got a feeling he will start and so will Lewis.

Ederson
Nunes
Dias
Akanji
Gvardiol
Kovacic
Bernardo
Gundogan
Marmoush
Doku
Haaland

Nothing against O'Reilly but he got ruthlessly exposed by Palace the other week, we could have been 4 down before we scored and turned it around. You can guarantee they'll target it again if he plays there so it has to be Gvardiol left back for me. Akanji and Dias are the best options we've got for dealing with mateta, khusanov has the pace but fear he'll get battered around by mateta.

Kova, bernardo and gundo are the best options for controlling the game in the middle, hopefully bernardo sits the deepest which gives kovacic and gundo more license to push on as double 8's.

doku and marmoush are the best options put wide for scoring or actually supplying haaland. Out of possession marmoush defaults to right wing, in possession he goes central right behind haaland with Nunes and bernardo offering a pass out to the right.

There's no way that team isn't strong favourites on paper, it's then just all about what instructions pep gives.

I don’t like the Akanji/Dias pairing so would risk O’Reilly. I accept it is risky though.

As for the rest, I’d be ok with that. I think we have to play Doku in this game.

This game has Wigan written all over it.
The manager in a mess.
The whole world, except City fans, wanting our opponent to win.
The opponent is riding a wave of positivity with, literally, nothing to lose.
Playing staff are schizophrenic.
Players are on a downer.

I can't even contemplate what team will be put out. I just know I won't agree with it, because I rarely do this season.

But, hey-ho.... football is a funny fucker.

I agree Gvardiol central is the better option there but the threat out wide is too great to ignore imo. That's how they ripped us apart in the first 30 minutes a few weeks back, it would be negligent to not do something to minimise the risk of that happening again.

The other, albeit extremely unlikely option is the newly returned Ake comes straight back in

Kick off time 16:30 (BST).

How on Earth do I start this thread. Pretty clear that multiple players cannot be trusted to get us a win here.

-------------Ederson
Nunes---Dias---Gvardiol---O'Reilly
-------Kovacic---Gundogan
????????------Grealish------Doku
--------------Marmoush

I would probably pick Ederson here, we need him in the build up.

The Back 4 has to be that, the only change could be moving O'Reilly forward as we don't have enough attackers playing well.

The rest is because I'm pissed off with that performance against Southampton. I'm missing an attacker because I haven't got a clue who to pick. Probably Savinho?

This is going to be tough, Palace have pace and quality throughout their team.
You know he's gonna play Kev right?

Even allowing for the sentimentally of Pep, he will be swayed by his recent showing against Palace.

Grealish will be lucky to start a game for City ever again.
