The 2025 Rebuild of City Squad

My guess would be we are looking at young players that can fit in with a new team and possibly a different way of playing. Think the only certainties are a midfielder to play as an 8 a couple fullbacks and a keeper. Outside that possibly a 10 only if we can make room and the right player is available.
More the PSG model than the Madrid
Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Doué, Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia.

If City were smart, they would be better served going after talents in England such as MGW, Rodgers, Wharton, Eze, Kerkez, Huijsen, Baleba, Delap.

We need to sign young, hungry players, ones who aren't used to winning trophies and want to die busting a gut to try..
I’d put Bobb ,O’Reilly, maybe Echeverri ,not seen much of him though,in that mix too.

On the homegrown front, seriously with arsenal not gettinng anywjere we should raid the cunts for Timber and Saka

Also livermento or hall, offer them McAtee and lewis

I think this rebuild is so important it deserves its own thread. I know there are some, though I expect few who will say we will be fine once we get over the injuries, but I think those fans are getting fewer.

There are some questions that are important for the rebuild.

1 - Should Pep be in charge of the rebuild?
2 - Which players should be moved on in 2025?
3 - Which players should be offered new contracts?
3b - What players should we be targetting?
4 - Who is making the decisions for the rebuild, i.e. Txiki or Hugo Viana
5 - How will the 115 PL charges decision and other outside influences reflect on the rebuild. Do we wait until after the decision of the independent commission?
6 - what sort of figures do we realistically have to spend on a rebuild?
7 - With the bad form we are in, how as fans can we help the club?

We definitely need a rebuild, but I am concerned players are not bought for Pep’s system as a new manager in maybe a 1 or 2 years if Pep leaves, may not want his players and the transition will take longer.

As fans, today is another huge blow in a period of really poor form. We don’t seem to have turned the corner. A win against United today may have given everyone a big boost and, with a week until the next game given the players could have had a chance to regroup and consolidate. I imagine the morale among the players will be as low as it is for us fans. Today we can be forgiven for showing our disapproval of the players, coaches and even recruiting team. Tomorrow we need to get back behind them it is not as if we have another team to support. We are blues, once a blue always a blue.

Now for the rebuild!
1. He never has been, why would he be now? Txiki Begiristain was in charge of transfers, this summer and onwards it will be Hugo Viana.
2. Walker, Phillips, Kovacic, Nunes
3. KDB, Carson, Gundo, Ortega, Ederson, Stones, McAtee, Bernardo
3b. Jeremie Frimpong, Morgan Gibbs-White, Joshua Kimmich, Viktor Gyokeres
4. Mostly Hugo
5. I'm not sure when it's going to arrive, or if the club know when it will arrive. For that reason, I can't really answer the question. If it would be a short delay they might wait, but they won't waste half a window for example. Having said that, we might be planning to use the special CWC window at least once. Basically, I have no idea for this question.
6. Pure incomings, maybe 150 mil. But hopefully we claw some back in outgoings. It won't be anywhere close to level this season though. Needs must.
7. Keep attending as much as possible, don't be too negative towards players or staff. Just the normal things you'd do whether it's a good or bad season, we should already be doing everything to back the team.

Players will 100% be bought for Pep's system. They will be planning as though he is in place long-term, whether he is or not. His successor will be in a similar mold anyway, so there is no need to go for a different profile just to second guess a manager who isn't even here.

New contracts for KdB, Ederson, Stones, McAtee and Bernardo...

Still rather we went for homegrown high standard fullbacks to fill the quata than MGW
Don’t think it’s a choice we can get homegrown full backs if we want and MGW if he’s a midfielder we want.I have no issue with MGW, think he’d be very good as an 8 for us he has a lot of Bernardo and a bit of Kovacic about him. We don’t have to fill the quota if we don’t want either, doubt we’d buy anyone just to do that.

We have not been smart for a couple of seasons
Peaked with the treble and just stood still

Because we aren't in for any of that calibre.

The links we are getting are precisely the people we are targeting.

Forget Wirtz, I've not once thought Bayern hadn't long ago secured his services. I knew it as soon as Musiala signed his new deal.

There are only so many elite players on the market and most will already be playing at direct rivals.

We fucked up ignoring deals that PSG have done for the last two season.
Difference is though is that PSG are buying elite young talent. We aren’t

Last summer we should have been smarter, not so much the summer after the treble. So I’d say just one summer. Think January will prove to be smart, and this summer too. May take a full season to see how smart, but think we’ll be at least challenging for the league next May.

Aren’t we? Lets see, January signings haven't settled in yet, don’t know who we will bring in this summer, we also have our own young talent that may well become elite.

Our recruitment wasn’t that great pre treble either to be honest. We just got away with it because we had so many players coming into there primes.

any chance 2-3 incoming transfers for summer to be here by the start of CWC around mid June? wouldnt mind to try them out early get a taste of it vs join only sometime early August.

there was some change on transfer window dates to accomodate exactly this chance to get in some players earlier than usual isnt it...

surely make more sense than play the likes of Ederson, KDB, Stones, Grealish etc in CWC who might not be here by end of August.
