Florian Wirtz

What are Real Madrid going to do with him? Shunt him onto the right wing?

I'm confident we're willing to pay what Bayer Leverkusen want, otherwise we wouldn't be wasting anyone's time. And I'm doubly confident if the scousers are half serious about wanting him.

Obviously it comes down to what Wirtz wants but we can't afford to let the league champions sign one of the top three attacking midfielders in world football, while we scrape a CL spot and replace the second best ever PL midfielder with Morgan Gibbs-White. It's just not going to happen.

He will wait to see if we qualify for CL before any decision, question is does he join us for the CWC if he does just to rub Munichs nose in it

Just curious who’s the greatest PL midfield ever?

For me he is the best for us....I know the popular opinion is KDB and I can see why...but consistancy wise and ability to control a whole game both for us and the opposition its David Silva for me.
KDB can do individual things that Silva cant...better long distance shooting and better running with the ball (But not ball retention), crossing from wider positions but Silva had that delicate pas, incisive pass over shorter distances where I think he is slightly better than KDB and his ability to control the game 4/5/6 passes ahead of a move is far beyond KDB....KDB instinctive, physical and clever but David Silva was a genius level football intellect.

Edit: Even my dad who watched Bell et al thinks KDB is probably the best (just)

Back to Wirtz

no CL no Wirtz for certain.

That Southampton result coupled with the results from last night have really added the pressure......Chelsea looked poor but still won which is all that matters for them

Bournmouth much bigger game than the FA cup final....we have to win no excuses, to even have a chance at CL.

JSGC (youtube poster - seems pretty credible, but who knows?) now thinks that Wirtz to Manchester City is a ploy by camp Wirtz or camp Levercuzen to extract as much as they can from Bayern when he almost inevitably transfers there.

JSGC's viewpoint makes sense to me. What do you think?

+1
Unless we win our last 2 P/L games - we're screwed; as anything but 2 wins means we'll risk finishing outside of the P/L spots.

Haven't watched as I think he has an opinion like everyone else, that's it, just like most of the opinions on the previous 525 pages

Thanks for your illuminating comment... You've basically posted "I've not bothered to listen to/view what you've posted, nonetheless I've an opinion."

This is exactly what I think is gong to happen...

The pressure on Wirtz from bayern execs, ex players, current players will be huge...probably too much....

As I said before the Wirtz camp will have listened to our offer of course but we are a back up if Bayern dont stump up the cash with Leverkusen - thats the only way this transfer happens imho - if Bayern fuck it up by trying to penny pinch.

They travelled to visit us as thats the professional thing to do...they have to check it out first hand, and of course he would be interested - but I think we are a second option/plan B for Wirtz and his camp incase Bayern get this wrong.

lets hope Bayern are too arrogant for their own good

Otherwise our midfield recruitment will be MGW and Reijnders - is this good enough...does it have the creativity....MGW as a plan B -we have seen this story before - sometimes it has worked - but in midfield our plan B's (Phillips, Nunes) have not been great
