Florian Wirtz

This is exactly what I think is gong to happen...

The pressure on Wirtz from bayern execs, ex players, current players will be huge...probably too much....

As I said before the Wirtz camp will have listened to our offer of course but we are a back up if Bayern dont stump up the cash with Leverkusen - thats the only way this transfer happens imho - if Bayern fuck it up by trying to penny pinch.

They travelled to visit us as thats the professional thing to do...they have to check it out first hand, and of course he would be interested - but I think we are a second option/plan B for Wirtz and his camp incase Bayern get this wrong.

lets hope Bayern are too arrogant for their own good

Otherwise our midfield recruitment will be MGW and Reijnders - is this good enough...does it have the creativity....MGW as a plan B -we have seen this story before - sometimes it has worked - but in midfield our plan B's (Phillips, Nunes) have not been great
Wasn't nunes a plan C or D. Major panic buy

I suppose, if the parents are their agents/reps, it keeps the agent cut in the family and I would imagine you want people, who you can trust, negotiating on your behalf.
Not sure if it's so much the negotiating contracts, the Haalands used Raiola, but trusting them to give good advice on carreer and career progression. All depends on the family dynamics.

No idea what is going to happen. But I am not sure our plan B's have been awful in general. In midfield I think Phillips was a plan A and Rodri was a plan B after we didn't get Jorginho?

>> Credible in what sense? That he has any inside knowledge?
JSGC is a random youtube blogger - he reads posts and reaches conclusions. He has no inside knowledge that I'm aware of.

Given that JSGC has no inside contacts within Man City (that I'm aware of) - why would I deem him as credible?

It's because he seems to read most everything that's posted about transfers and decides, based on his own experience and on his personal rating of sources - what's likely to happen. He's been spot on for as long as I've watched him - which is admittedly not long.

I don't have enough time to research everything on the Internet to reach independent conclusions of my own about Man City transfers - but JSGC has made this his job. So far, I think he's doing a credible job.

>> It's clear we have been interested in Wirtz for a while and it's up to Wirtz where he wants to go, so I'm not sure it makes a difference whether it's a ploy or not as our interest will ensure a higher price regardless. We never allow ourselves to be used.
+1 - totally agree. Pep's absence during our meeting with camp Wirtz is a red flag for me.

Ah so not so much credible as a good opinion, fair enough! I do the same and can only listen to a few pods, so limit it to Ramble, 9320 and Let Me Talk most of the time.

On the last Let Me Talk pod, Sam Lee talks about how we've aimed to keep Pep out of transfers - mostly so that he isn't quizzed about it in press conferences etc. So l wouldn't take it as a red flag!

I’d love to set this **** on fire.
I just read that with the tune in my head: "I'd like to teach the world to sing" ...;)

To the tune of... I don't want to set the world on fire, by The Ink Spots.

"I don't want to set the world on fire.."
"I just want burn, this dipper alive."

Perhaps but transfermarkt has his agents down as relatives.

We used to have two brothers in the academy whose father (Nigerian?) was their agent. Whenever any contract was due, be it schoolboys or whatever, he'd go straight to the press and complain how City were disrespecting his sons, seemingly even before we'd spoken to him. I think the younger one looked a talent especially, but it pissed off the club and eventually they both left, to be never heard of again.

Even if the agent can double your money allowing you to give your family 10% of a bigger wedge? Unless your family are experienced agents, it sounds like madness to me.
All you need is a good solicitor and experience in the game, Wirtz's father has both.

A vast majority of agents are scum bags, with the UK based players I can never understand why the players don't use the PFA and it's free!

I rather give someone in my family 10% than some dodgy agent.
I don't think Wirtz has to worry about 10%
I'd assume that you would go with the best there is and I don't know if your parents have the best knowledge / contacts.
I could be completely wrong

Experience in the game how ? What would a solicitor know about how much a footballer should get ? Image rights etc are very niche area of law you probably need a big city firm not the firm the family might use for wills or property sales etc

When you have Wirtz's skill set you don't need contacts they come looking for you.

Wirtzs parents seen to be OK.
But I've heard of a lot of top entertainers and sports stars who have run onto trouble with family members. I think Harry Kane and his brother wasn't the greatest.
