Because unless there was an infringement that leads to a penalty they don't re-referee restarts so the correct protocol was applied ..... apart from the bit which everybody knows is a red all day long and then the "don't want to spoil the occasion" clause comes into play.

Because of the way we play you can tell during games, even with plenty of time left, that we won't be scoring all day long. Today was one of those games and the sad thing is I've seen it many times. How many times have we been done by a team scoring with their only chance and winning the game. The flashes of brilliance don't happen as often anymore to get us out of the shit.

A few invisible men this afternoon, most of them upfront. Marmoush is turning out to be a bit of a luxury, has had about 2/3 good games since he joined, I think he's lightweight.
Problem is lack of creativity upfront and around the box.
Pep needs to adapt the way we play to the players we have, ridiculous situation in the 2nd half where Akanji was playing as a right winger for the last 20 minutes and had Phil passing the ball to him like he 's Zidane.

Since my now 20 year-old kid has been a Palace fan since age 5 and is in utter rapture right now I can’t be gutted. And as awful as the Henderson call was, the give back was the non-penalty on Silva. And we still couldn’t score. We looked old, weary, not crisp, tentative and frustrated relative to the last few years though we weren’t terrible. It just seems we have so many problems to solve, not just one or two. They fellows have to pick themselves up if they want CL and TBH I think that will be hard after this disappointment. Where do we go from here?

Because VAR doesn't give free kicks. How many times does this have to be explained? It's either a red card or nothing. The same as a foul just outside the area.
