Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

We have so much work to do to sort this stale team out. The club are to blame for allowing this to happen.

We just have nothing with far too much loyalty shown to old players which has destroyed our season.

Pep is a huge part of the problem this season sadly along with our coaches who clearly do nothing in training.

We need a complete new look
We spent £200m and got fuck all for that.

Two bad transferwindows in a row.
Hope this summer will be better.

January's transfer window was another bizzare one.

Marmoush looks ok but not elite. Looks like a Jesus type of player who helps but doesn't score much. Not sure we needed that kind of player.

What was the point of buying Khusanov, Nico and Reis if Pep is never going to play them?

How do you sum that up?

Unlucky? In part.

Var? Not fit. Far too many interpretations.

Palace did what so many teams do, walk through us on the counter. I didn’t like the time wasting but I can’t begrudge another fanbase experiencing a cup win.

So onto City,

An awful season and an expected season. The feats achieved were off the scale and wonderful. The club, coach and players can be forgiven this season imo but only this season.

The treble/4 in a row is unparalleled success and has to be applauded as an outstanding sporting feat.

Now that’s out of the way. The whole team needs rebuilt. Walking up to the opposition box and passing until the ball is turned over is not acceptable. Not enough players can put the ball in the net and that’s a huge issue. Far too many blunders at the back to count. So many parts of the system is broken.

Major work ahead. We have good people at the club and we have the finances to hopefully make the transition as painless as possible.

So although it’s gutting to lose another fa cup final I have made peace with this season. Next season I expect a huge upturn on the pitch. That is who we are now and that’s what we should be returning to. The excuses and the issues this season won’t and shouldn’t be tolerated.

You have had your off season, anyone who can’t reach the top level again must be let go. No exceptions.

Just to add, get so good again the officials in black can’t interfere. It’s what we have always done.

Of course he has. You don’t stay at a club for 10 years, win the trophies he has without making any decent signings.

I hate the revisionism when it comes to Pep. He took over a City side massively on the decline, just like he did at Barca, and has done a fantastic job that no other coach could emulate.

His poor season doesn’t detract from that.
He did. But despite winning the league, we all saw we were on the decline last season, yet sold our best young player and didn't replace him
Yes, we've been unlucky with injuries to Rodri and Bobb, but this season should have been the rebuild and now it very much looks like next season
Everyone in a management position is guilty of being asleep at the wheel

Today has been frustrating more than anything else, we have had enough chances and possession to win the game easily but one again we didn't take advantage of it. Wingers should be used to stretch the pitch but both of ours cut in inside which has the opposite effect plus if you beat the first man there is usually another covering them. If you are going to play one or both of them then you need overlapping full backs to pull defenders out of position to create the space.
We also need to decide if he want Haaland in the team as we have stopped playing to his strengths which are balls through the middle. We did that in his first season and to an extent last year but it has been completely missing this season, partly because Kev and Gundo can't do it anymore and partly due to the lack of Rodri.
Finally Akanji is not the answer at full back and needs to be moved on with Kev, Gundo and probably Stones, Ake, Nunes and one of the keepers.

Worried now that pep will let his admirable but misplaced loyalty to Kev see him play a lot of minutes on Tuesday in a must win game.
I don’t want my last memories of Kev to be him huffing and puffing and looking knackered, while the team struggle.
Pep may have to be a bit ruthless…….if he is able to on such an occasion.

Actually were brave and started to drop him until the news broke. Since then he has played every single fucking minute it feels like. Crazy

Don't worry move on to Tuesday we will win, then just a point at Fulham will do but I have a feeling just the win on Tuesday could be enough.
