Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

Embarrassing, maybe red could have saved us.

Smelt it as soon as he changed up forest.

Smelt it last year as well. 2 finals in a row, fuck me.

But in a major final, you hope both referee and VAR can get a major decision right for the good of the game
Yes, maybe it doesn't change Palace winning the cup because City did not turn up, but the pen save and Doku shot is not saved by the sub keeper

2 major chances Henderson doesn't save because he's in the tunnel watching
That performances has been happening all season.

Bigger picture is that the team is not good enough...focusing on decisions we can't control achieves nothing. The club needs to focus on the performances of the players and how we rebuild this team....

I must have been watching a different game.

We were predictable and we did not deserve to win because Palace did a job on us.

De Bruyne, Haaland, Marmoush and Savinho were mediocre.
Yes, you must have been watching a different game. The one I saw involved us dominating and creating lots of chances. Their keeper had a cracking game. It happens.

Disappointing and frustrating that missed penalties continue to haunt for season after season. Every time we get a penalty I rate the chances of scoring about 50% at best.

Not a certain like with Yaya Toure or Balotelli ?

Surely, in a squad of world class players it must be possible to identify a penalty taker or two to practice every day for a couple of hours to almost guarantee success on match day?
To be fair it was a bloody good save by Henderson, but at the same time there's an amount of good fortune in it, they have to guess the right way and it's sheer luck whether they do or not. Not making excuses but there was a hell of a long wait before the penalty was taken, I always think that favours the keeper. First time in a Wembley final for Marmoush too.

But but but never mind the good of the game, Lineker said he was glad it wasn’t a red as it would have ruined the game. There we go. We can’t have the game ruined for Doris and Harry watching on TV in Tunbridge Wells.

If the final was United vs Palace, and the same thing happened to United, 100% the panel and everybody else would want the right call to be given

Im pissed off about today .
Im not pissed off with palace winning the cup, like the wigan game , fair play.i Iike that supporters of teams that have never won a bean experience the feelings we have.
Its ace

Im pissed off that we have let this slide so badly
that the men that are entrusted to run OUR club have stunk the place out in recent buys

its on pep too

Bit of a long one.

Theres problems are all over the pitch.

First we need a CB who is a LEADER. We currently have one who believes he's one, but is more bothered about his vogue image than defending.

Akanji is very good but not a leader.

Stones is a medical note.

The others are too young to be given a leaders role in a team that pushes so high.

Sorting this would make us hard to beat. We NEED to create an invincibility around the team. Young players will not learn leadership from Ruby or Akanji.

We need a leader in midfield, Rodri has been massively missed and hopefully he'll be back to his best, but we need another player and I think nico will be that player going forwards.

Creativity has been really poor, getting rid of Mahrez, Gunny V.1, Alverez, and sterling was a mistake.I think the only quality player weve replaced was Kun with Erl, although he's not the same style.

Doku is still young, but his passes are very average at the moment, not sure if its down to vision or technique, and exactly the same can be said for Savio. Both aren't as clinical in front of goal as Mahrez or Sane or even Sterling. Sadly Phil has had a below par season for him and has offered no competition for either sides. We need some serious crossing and goal scoring wide players for this system to work. Bob will be a massive help when he's fit.

Big Erl is struggling and as he's being marked out of the game as he's the only player who offers a constant goal threat.

Marmoush is finding his feet and will be a decent forward.

Benny isn't the little play maker or goal scorer he was, maybe its the role? Rodri's loss has affected the whole team.

Kev is playing his heart out and finally finding his pass again. I was sure he'd be replaced, but who knows. Some of his passing was brilliant today and typical Kev. He has a new fight.

Maybe we've bought to many potentials and not enough ready made players.

I'm still hopeful that some of the newer players with potential can start to really pop.

So to sum up. A leading CB (Kompany style), LB, RB.

Rodri to get Nico G in shape and under his wing.

A Creativity and goal scoring player who is ready made, a world class player. Please don't replace with another potential.

Hopefully Bob and Phil will be Mahrez and sterling?? Scoring and setting up goals? Or we need to seriously buy class, these positions are so important. We need ballers.

Also a set piece coach, our corners are proper bobbings.

Its difficult, but we have a great Coach and a fantastic club set up, but still very doable.

It’s fucking pathetic anti football…

It’s no better than Wimbledon and the like booting it long..

People getting giddy in the media because Southampton and Palace have humbled the evil empire..

Who’s going to pay £60 or £70 a ticket to watch that shit.

I despise Klopp and the dippers as much as anyone but his method was capable of blowing that approach away, a peak Klopp team puts 4 or 5 past them today.

I’m not advocating we go that way but we do need to learn some lessons.
Liverpools method of beating a packed defence is to play long balls to Salah, from Van Dyke and Alexander Arnold and unlike our wingers Salahs first action is to get inside the box where a challenge is more difficult to make for fear of a penalty. We don't have anyone in the backline who can play those balls or wingers with that desire.

Nah fuck it it's shit drinking on your own. I want an early start tomorrow.
Try and get a decent kip mate for your early doors tmw. I used to be away with work on lots of overnights, it's a long night when you've had a shite day.

I'm knacked after that performance today, had enough of the tactics this season, but at least I'm home. You didn't miss much on the TV either, looked like no Blues there (constantly showing Palace crowd), and as for the commentary Shearer was beyond biased today.

Its been a lousy weekend and after those results last night I don't think we will get CL. Be nudged out.

Safe trip home tmw x

losing two finals in a row vs much lesser sides are really bad. whats next season get to final again and lose to Fulham or Brentford?

these sides rarely ever win FA cup against others.

Wasn't a good save, great height for a keeper, no power and not even close to the corner of the net, it was an awful penalty

Yeah the life coached out is a ridiculous argument. You only have to look at the previous seasons he also had the life coached out.

everyone wants to vent and that’s ok but the problems are clear:

Injuries
Age
Mental & Physical fatigue
Squad is a busted flush but we won it all and it was great. So can’t complain now.

Season nearly over anyway. Next season the high demands need to be met and if not replace those who can’t.

Spend wisely in the summer and move out players who have lost that hunger/edge and start again.

slightly off topic but I don’t like our wingers. They don’t assist nor score and very rarely impact the game unless in a 20 min role. None of them will make it here if this level continues.
But it's not ridiculous, though.
It is entirely feasible that Pep has become obsessive about the possession of the football.
Remember, Pep has had a very stressful year away from the grass.
If he doesn't have a strong enough back staff who can keep him grounded, there is a very likely situation that he has gone full mad scientist.
You say it's not Pep, but you don't like the wingers. The ones that don't wing...
The striker doesn't strike, and the creator is clueless.
Oh, and the Prem POTS from last year looks like he's been thrown into the squad after winning the chance to play from a raffle.
On the contrary to what you say, it is more than likely that the players are having their individuality removed.
I wonder why Jack doesn't play much?......

Take the rough with the smooth.

Everyone got complacent.

We need to find that fire again. Also so many players need moved on.

2/3 year build if we get lucky.

Least none of the rag/dip/arse won it.

A shambolic city team still got to the final. What that say about the rest?

At our best we are untouchable. Let’s try to stay positive and get back to the top.

Honestly no point blaming anyone. We need to be better than this. Leave no room for the man in black to have any impact. Pep used to say it all the time. No help.
