VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

How long have we used VAR in this country and still it’s not working the way it should be, so how do we fix it, because at the moment it looks corrupt as fuck and certaint teams get more decisions go there way, is it down to Webb or someone else

Lino has an unobstructed view of it. No way he needs VAR to tell him that was a deliberate goal saving handball by the keeper. He should have flagged for the foul, but as I said earlier, the officials act differently because of VAR.
If Haaland had lifted that over the keeper to run onto he either scores or more likely the keeper would have brought him down for a penalty and sending off anyway.

You are spot on though, the officials bottle decisions every week because VAR.

'I didn't see the incident where Var may have interpreted it slightly differently than the tv pundits/laws of the game/common fuckin' sense but it may be similar to the player that was 10 yards offside 7 years ago that was missed by the linesman.......'

Says a fuckin' guest wanker on this thread as he winds up Blues

Would palace 2nd goal have stood without VAR ?

Yes it would, it has benefits. The issue is it’s not being applied for the LOTG. 100% Ortega was off if he’d done that.

When I see how we are referred or VAR’ed then I think of Phar Lap having to carry 10 stone 10 lbs, it’s a fucking handicap from the regulators if they think you’re too good. Its supposed to be there to ensure clear & obvious errors that are missed are applied. Instead it’s being used to manipulate results.

He had an unobstructed view but from five yards behind where he should have been. I doubt he could see if it was or wasn't inside the box from there.

The linesman was in no position, literally or figuratively, to help the referee.

Apart from that, this is all on VAR.

He can absolutely see the keeper twatted it, he can’t be excused for not keeping up with play. There is no excuse for the ref not being told to see the monitor. It looked like he was on his way & then stopped & got a drink off a player. I’ve never in my life seen a ref do that.

But if he can't see it's outside the box, he can't flag for a ball twatting.

I am not excusing him for not being up with play, though, which is why I said he wasn't in any position to help.

But yes, if VAR can't get this right, you have to ask what is the actual point.

On the other hand, you just know everyone will forget about this after a day or so because everyone got the result they wanted and the club won't make a fuss. If this was Liverpool, there would be hell to pay and they would be guaranteed enough favourable decisions to win the league next year.

I said it in the match thread, it was a classic example of refereeing the occasion rather than refereeing the game. We can't "ruin" the FA Cup final by sending off the goalkeeper early. Reminds me of that time that De Jong got away with a karate kick in the World Cup final for the same reason.

Not just the occasion - but the outcome.

Ortega would have been sent off.

No doubt about it. You guys got shafted big time. Henderson denied an opportunity by handing the ball and forcing Haaland wide.

Nothing will happen though, because when your rivals get shafted, partisan fans are too busy laughing rather than trying to hold PGMOL accountable. Many of you were too busy laughing at Skelly to actually admit he should never have been sent off v Wolves.

PGMOL leverage the club rivalry to avoid accountability.

Today, its your turn to eat shit

The narrative has already changed to Haaland was going away from goal, which is only after Henderson twatted it in that direction. It’s just like the none penalty in the semi, we have to make ourselves impervious to their actions.

I’m fucking sick of the fouling, time wasting, penalties, red cards that all have a higher benchmark.

Would the Rag cunts be anywhere near a final if they were treated the same. Over the last month they’ve bailed out with 3 red cards to give them their solitary point & a win away from the champions league.

Var absolutely wank.
It's totally ruined the enjoyment of attending games.
And today showed it's open to out and out cheating by the corrupt cunts that run it.
The games gone.
It's gone that far it won't ever come back now sadly.
I can see why people give up although it's not worth wasting money or emotion on the bent bastards.
Maybe non league is the way to go
