Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

Have thought this for a while now but we are just totally boring to watch. Notwithstanding yesterday's result, there's no excitement watching us anymore. We pass the ball but for the sake of it and without purpose, it's so monotonous. I can't remember the last time in the past eighteen months where I've actually enjoyed watching us. There's no enjoyment or tempo.

Losing to Man Utd in the Cup Final was worse. I don't begrudge Palace fans their win.

When will be back again?
Definitely out of any of our Wembley defeats yesterday's hurt the least.
Going with little expectations most probably helped with that thought process. And not disliking them helped too. CTID

Do you think the system only works with the very best players? It’s an interesting one. Because we don’t have the very best players at the moment. So should we adapt the startle because of that?

NB. I don’t think Pep ever would adapt to that.
Er - to an extent - not necessarily the very best - but certainly better than half of those out there yesterday.

I like the possession. But got to do more with it and throw in a long ball now and then. An odd shot from the edge of the box would be a start.
Get the opposition thinking more.
Unlike the Treble side, we've even started losing the ball under no pressure and in great positions now.

Why did pep change playing Nunes and Nico O’reilly at full back??. It was working absolutely fine and we change it to accommodate fucking Akanji. He’s mega pissed me off this season Pep. I honestly think any other manager would have been sacked.
Absolutely, how long does he get now? If we somehow manage to cock up not qualifying for the champs league, I think it's game over

Newcastle home, that's where it ends

Not sure I agree, however we do need a plan B. Is there anything more frustrating in football than having the chance of a break only for one of the midfield to step on the ball and wait for everyone to get back to their drilled positions? Happens time and again. It's like individuality has been completely coached out of them.
It's no coincidence that most of our better result this season have come from mixing it up a bit with Eddie long ball passes. We're to predictable and easier to play against. Football comes in cycles and it maybe our amazing results are behind us but my support will never fade.
If we don't hit the ground running next season then my concerns are Pep will fall on his sword ( hope he doesn't )
We started yesterday with Rodri,Stones and Kovacic due to injuries add Gundo miles off his a game. But we signed Nico for 50 million to cover this and didn't use him. CTID

Hard disagree. We won that game because they failed to show up. This season has been appalling. The football is dire, we play at one mile per hour and never try to do anything but pass it.

Notwithstanding the worst VAR decision ever, that will have been the easiest final for Palace, we don't move the ball at any speed or with any purpose. It's garbage and Peps too about giving the old guard a final send off rather than what's best for the club.

Watched the "handball" this morning again. Still totally shocked it wasn't a red.

Is there any other team that has these decisions go against them constantly? It's blatant cheating. And the narrative that is spun because, as a club as we keep quiet, is disgusting.

The other season Everton got an apology for not giving a handball against Rodri, the game restarted with a free kick because it didn't matter as Richarlison was offside!!!! But no one at City came out to question why they were apologising and now the narrative is changed forever.

Time to stand up City

All great teams don't always win. They did a number on us. However, how many times do we get done down our left flank on the break. Its happened time and time again this season. As for Doku and Savinho I would have started with Jack and Phil who at least have an end product.

The ganes changed..from 2010 to 2020 a lot of defenders were slowish..too big and susceptable to 1:2's around the box. Nowadays we dont a) have the players for that b) have to fit in Haaland c) defenders quicker more athletic = harder to.play that style..pace and power is the game...we dont have that... by the way Palace were pretty poor yesterday. Didnt stop tgeir fans trying hard and lifting their team

I was surprised he started with KDB and 2 wingers but I don't believe Pep is to blame. We don't have the players any more. KDB is too old, Foden is off form and Rodri is injured. That's our midfield wiped piut.

What do you want Pep to do? He's not a magician. He didn't miss the penalty. Sh't happens in Cup Finals.

We don’t have the players to do what? Win the CL or PL? Finish in the top 5? Score a goal against Southampton or Palace?

I have never seen a side with so much attacking talent look so toothless as yesterday. It all comes back to the system Pep plays. Our football is robotic and all the natural attacking instinct from the players appears to have been coached out of them.

Look at the O’Reilly chance, he simply has to hit it first time. But taking the extra two or three touches is symptomatic of this side. I lost count of the amount of times we could have hit an early cross into the box, but instead played three extra passes, before making the same cross from a worse position.

Yep, at 1-0 you knew we wouldn't come back such is the weak and fragile mentality of this current squad. They've all been shit this season as has Pep ,who continually plays his favourites who have contributed fuck all week in week out, and others who have barely had a sniff who should've had more minutes. Utter shite management

I agree Palace were poor yesterday but the makes it worse. We did nothing in the second half and the manager didn't change it. I'm not gonna have a go at blues at Wembley because at the end of the day the players have just as much responsibility to lift the crowd as the crowd does to lift the players.

I just genuinely don't enjoy watching us and it's been that way for a while. The speed which we play is so slow. We don't move the ball with any speed or intensity. The managers selections are more and more erratic with little sense or logic behind them.

It's like the latter Wenger era at Arsenal
