Atmosphere 2024/25

The tifo and flags were superb but that's about where it ends on the compliments. You can moan and whine about a drum and how Palace do things but their songs were simple and their whole end sang them.

Even after the boost from their second being disallowed we were flat as a pancake.

I know 1894 put a lot of effort in but clearly no one was arsed to sing yesterday. Really strange.

I think like it or not these days what happens on the pitch has a big influence on what happens off the pitch, I think if we score that penalty things get a lot louder in the city end and we probably go onto win the game, sadly that didnt happen,
The Palace fans were very good all game but its the first thing they have ever won so there would be something seriously wrong if they were not very good, just get the feeling with blues like we have seen it all, won it all, its all a bit old hat & lets be honest the team is not sparkling like it used to,
Hopefully we can get that feeling back in the next couple of years, who knows?

This made me chuckle, would fit right in amongst our home support.

If you don't laugh you'd cry. It's a long expensive day getting to and from that shithole the FA had built.
We died getting there Wolves '74..Newcastle '76 ..Spuds '81 Stoke '11. Went quickly down hill after that aside from a few games really. (Rags of course) may as well just play the kids and get knocked out early next year. Our fans clearly don't want it! I thought the team did try hard yesterday..sadly with kdb and Foden shadows of what they used to be we couldn't create any chances really. Doku was great yesterday I thought. Haaland as always very limited... he's massive yet can't head a ball cleanly. Can't see many top sides wanting him to be fair. Too limited and makes us less fluid. We were so much better as a team when he was injured. I like the fella but he is not a good fit for us in all honesty.

Seemed to be a strange crowd. I was on the 1st tier near the corner flag but didn't seem to be our usual crowd.

I, possibly a little harshly and too rigorously, had a go at the guy stood next to me because he decided an fa cup final was an appropriate time to phone his wife and have a chat.
After many years of marriage, there is never an appropriate time for that

The atmosphere from our end was shite yesterday. I hate palace and their ultra shite but the big difference is you could see just about everyone joining in, at our end maybe 10% joined in, it’s the same dynamic at home games, the vast majority don’t join in at City, unlike other clubs, just sit with their arms folded, useless fuckers mostly. I was in the 1894 section yesterday and despite the best efforts of the 1894 group there were swathes of tourists, families, people who looked like they had never been to a game before. At least half and half singers and arm folders, how were those tickets allocated? Final thing, this shit about OSC and allocations - 6k to each apparently - they seem to have had first dibs on the best tickets and so regular fans were not able to get these seats, how is that fair, how does that improve the atmosphere? I appreciate that plenty of our good legacy fans are in OSC’s but there are fucking huge numbers who aren’t - in Southampton I was talking to 2 OSC branch chairs, great lads both, during the course of the evening I asked both how many OSC members applied for cup final tickets and how many got them - OSC 1 55 applied, 55 got them, OSC 2 about 100 applied and all got them - no need for season tickets, no need to be in the cup scheme, no need for loyalty points, no need to have even been to a game this season ffs - I don’t blame the OSC’s, in this society if you can get something it seems you take it but the club needs to take a hard look at itself as policies like these and the non season ticket issuing have killed our atmosphere. Yesterday was shocking, whatever we think of shit palace “ultras” they were loud all day and we were quiet.

In block 116, singing not too bad but blue on blue fighting over standing up, with kids behind unable to see thing!! Can understand both view points and have seen it happen time and again at Wembley. Not sure what the answer is?

I'm no fan of drums, but what a difference it made for Palace, they were loud and co ordinated, fair play to them.
Back in 2011 there were threads on here about starting something like what Palace have and it was all shouted down by the old boomer farts.

Old boomer fart here. One thing the old boomer farts know about is atmosphere. If you’d been to Maine Rd you would know that the Kippax would generate atmosphere even for dead rubber games.
Not a single game have I seen at the Etihad where the crowd have generated anything like the atmosphere the Kippax would have done given the same circumstance.

But if ya need props to generate atmosphere fill ya boots if it’s in support of the blues.

Wasn’t funny for me. My wife is sitting moaning about being hungry. Didn’t help when I said ‘you’ll be fucking hungrier if it goes to extra time’ but unfortunately it wasn’t to be

I'm actually just about old enough to have witnessed the final Maine Rd season. Assuming most of the same fans on the Kippax are now on the South stand or that corner, why is what worked back then failing now? A singing section not singing is a problem.

I don't actually think a poor atmosphere for a small game is a problem, but i think when Villa fans inevitably start singing "football in a library" 3 seconds after kickoff, there should be a reposte ready.

I wonder what the demographics are in 1894? Our away support is one of the best, if not the best, in the country. But at home it can be a bit flat with people spread out - stadium acoustics and being on different tiers doesn't help.

I get we have had a lot of finals but after a season like this with our only opportunity of a trophy I thought it would be absolutely buzzing in the City end yesterday. I could see the section 1894 had organised and didn't look like many were trying to get songs going.

Even after their goal was disallowed and Haaland tried to get the City end going there was no reaction.

I do hope the club can get some younger fans together with season tickets in the new North Stand.

People weren’t even chanting ‘come on City’ or ‘Ci-ty Ci-ty’. The only time hundreds around me made any noise was to call the players ‘shit cunts’ who ‘need to fuck off’. One bloke in front of me weirdly shouted ‘everyone hates you now Foden you twat’ because he passed to Akanji.

Absolutely fucking pathetic ‘support’ from us yesterday.

Just got home from leaving yesterday at 6.30.....back row directly behind the goal posts.

Fuck all singing going on but left with almost no voice for shouting.

At times I felt like I was just shouting at the telly....I was a one man band.

Too many fans put less effort in that the players in the pitch.
I feel the same way. I get very involved in shouting and reacting to the match.

One of the only ones in my block who seemed up for it (up on the third tier) and I'm sure the ones who sit quietly all match would probably laugh and sneer at my - what I would call normal - behaviour at a high stakes football match.

I've got too much passion and energy to sit still and wait for something to happen. Especially in a cup final when we're chasing a goal.

It's Wembley fatigue. For Palace fans this was a rare occasion, something very special, and they knew they had to make the most of it, whereas for us it was business as usual, it's now just become something that's taken for granted.

As another old boomer fart I'm nearly 69 I have to take issue with you over the Màine Rd atmosphere. It could be absolutely fantastic , Charlton promotion, Borough semi, most games against the rags or dippers. I can also remember games in the old first division against Wimbledon and Oxford with well under 20k on and the place like a morgue. Far prefer Maine Rd to the Etihad but it was not always the Bear pit it's made out to be. I absolutely loved the place the atmosphere, the pubs the smell of fag's and piss but the atmosphere could be hit and miss. It was never the same after the Kippax was demolished though

Impatient, negative, toxic, moaning fucking twats all over our end of Wembley today.

The vast majority provided not one fucking ounce of encouragement or support, nobody even joined in with simple ‘come on City’ chants.

All most people did for the entire 100 minutes was moan about what players were doing wrong or weren’t doing right.

That’s the worst set of fans I’ve ever been around in our history. I’ll never moan about tourists ever again, I’d rather have some random **** who couldn’t point to the Etihad on a map than the fucking drips all over our end today.

WANKERS!
I was at the back of 515 and unfortunately it was similar.

Couple of times nearly ended in handbags as well, some bloke having a pop at general crowd about atmosphere (he wasnt singing himself), and just ended in chaos and nearly came to Blues.

Steward telling someone on back row he had to sit down didnt help.

Bar our 'normal' away support some most games, our support is sadly very passive and negative. Not calling anyone out but it's true.

Hopefully fresh season brings a change

Not sure what to make of it, but the semi-final crowd was a lot better even though we had fewer numbers. I agree that the atmosphere turned a little unsavory yesterday. Lots of fans turning on the players and manager. Lots of blue on blue, wasn’t a pleasant atmosphere at all.
