How to beat park the bus

Simple don't when our defender carries the ball out of our defence tell Haaland and the players either side don't move higher than ten yards into there half!

Get a player with the hardest shot in the world and allow him to just take pot shots whenever he can, that'll put the wind up a defence and goalie in no time.

Alternatively get the worlds most proficient dribbler and let him have a go every time getting in the box.

Or we can pass it backwards and forwards at a snails pace waiting for the opposing defense to oblige.

It's a fucking toughie :)

Big man up top & get it in the mixer, I wonder if Colin Wanker would be willing to take over from pep?

Overlapping full backs
We don't have any, unless you include Nunes

Quick passes
We play far too slowly

A wide player who can beat his man then execute a pass to a team mate
Doku is 50% of this
This characterises all our teams - men, women, kids. Pass, pass 'n pass it again. We don't seem to have players in the midfield who can beat a player with a bit of twinkle toes. I'm hoping Oscar is fully fit next season and gets 40+ games under his belt - he could do it! But he'll need a lot of assistance from the rest of the team.

I don't think Pep doesn't know how to do this, it's just very very hard and you need amazing players who are all well drilled and highly motivated.

Even our treble winning team only won 1-0 Vs Inter.

Triangles, quick movement, width (should be possible with players on our team)

Be prepared to whip crosses in and willing to lose possession as a result (Pep no likey)

Don’t ask the CBs to be the ones in possession all the time and tasked with playing the line breaker or the killer ball (Rodri back will help with this)

Don’t pack an already crowded final third by having all 10 outfield players in the opposition half (crowds the passing lanes and makes you very susceptible to the counter)

It frustrates me that we rarely try to test the opposing goalkeeper by getting a shot on target from the edge of (or outside) the box. Always trying to score the perfect goal. Yes I understand there are sometimes 7-10 defenders trying to block the way but we've got some apparently elite players in our ranks who I'd hope can spot a chink of light in the block and aim for a part of the goal that would at least give the keeper something to think about. Sometimes it may go in, sometimes the keeper is forced into a save (and possible rebound/resulting corner) and we may get lucky with the odd deflected goal. It's obviously been coached out of the players but the persistent search to the perfect slow build up goal is detrimental to us and, as we saw yesterday, plays right into the opponent's hands.

I heard that we have scored more goals from outside the box than any other team in the PL this season.

If true, that surprises me. And given that week in, week out it's constant slow, sideways and backwards passing we should be scoring MORE goals from outside the box!

It's difficult and always has been. There have been plenty of games (even when we had Silva, Toure, Aguero, prime KdB. Sane, Sterling etc) where we have struggled to score against a packed defence.

No idea if it's true or not. I just heard it on the commentary yesterday.

Move the ball quick, whip balls in the box, hit long balls over the top. You mix it up

What you don’t do is walk to their box then expect your 2 centre backs to be able to create & then get caught on the break when they give it away.

City’s tactics most this season :-(

Well, we are at opposing values on the pitch. Breaking the 'parked bus' camped in the pen area, takes a player capable of drawing others on to their play and that panic will cause breakdown in their 'wall'.

But, unfortunately, selfish individuality is the opposite to team bonding and structure.

This is why prime KdB was one of the best things to happen to a Guardiola system in the Prem; quick decisive decision to put the striker or furthest up in quickly before the 'wall' got set up.

Currently we don't anything required to keep Guardiola-Ball alive...

Maybe we'll see an electric Echiverri, in the last couple of games, and give that system signs of life with that charge, though...?

Who knows?

-Don’t play with such a high line
-Move the ball faster
-Minimise sideways passing
-Buy quick wingers with ability to hold onto the ball and pass
-Understand that possession is vanity
