Has he played well once away from the Etihad? Thats more concerning than the peno miss.

He looks like a player that was brought in on a free transfer a couple of years ago which is exactly what he was at Frankfurt, how you go from being free to 60m in 18months at 26 i will never know. No where near the level we should be aiming for but hes here so we better make use of him somehow. I dont think hes a bad player
I just dont think hes a great player and we need great players now as we have no one to carry non great players at the moment like we had in the past.

Marmoush should play wide left. Cuting inside ,just like in Newcastle and Chelsea games.
Maybe but the big difference in those games unlike against nearly every other side we face. Was the fact those 2 played a high line. In Chelsea’s case they played a suicidally high line. Hence Haaland being able to do the one thing he’s brilliant at. Not convinced against the parked busses that Marmoush is the answer as his touch is average. Agree it is probably his best position though.

A very likable player, lively and always trying but he is often found to be very, very ordinary.

An open question, is he good enough?

It’s a valid question and one that can be asked of far too many in this current squad. We used to ask that question about one or two players and quite frankly the answer didn’t matter because the rest of the team was so damn good. Now we ask that question and it’s a real concern because if the answer is no, we are scratching around the squad wondering who is. Our recruitment in recent years has largely focussed on padding out the squad…good players, not great players. This mentality is a sure fire way of a side regressing.

A fair question.

I’m sick of him gesturing to the fans to cheer etc. don’t wanna cheerleader want a goalscorer

He definitely is, the system, just like with Haaland doesn’t suit him.

Playing against packed defences (which is a symptom of the way WE play, not the opposition), doesn’t suit most of our players in the forward positions.

There is no space for either of them to get in behind, which is the main quality they have in addition to in the box finishing.

Either Pep changes the system, or we have to wait until we get a new manager in a year to get the best out of most of our players.

It seems like Viana is buying players that don’t suit Peps football, I think we’re planning for his exit.

Playing him on the right so frequently is just stupid decision making by Pep.

Just put Haaland there and let him be on the left, makes no sense.

He played for Frankfurt they are crazy loud so i dont know what you mad for? Are people here really mad at players trying to get the crowd going? Wow

I'm beginning to agree.. it's like Cole Palmer on the left.

Hell even in the 18-19 season.. Riyad Mahrez was on the left in the game vs Brighton.. we went 1-0 down and then he switched it back and Mahrez actually scored from the right.

I’m starting to think the 3 brought in in Jan were not pep sanctioned. Maybe that’s why he has an aversion to playing them. Someone mentioned in this thread ‘planning for the future’.

still can't believe people don't think it was a perfectly good penalty. hindsight for some people is more than 20/20.

Good penalty and great save.

Henderson guessed right, and went at the perfect time - just too late for Marmoush to change where he's hitting it, but early enough to be half way into the save, with his left foot about to leave the ground as soon as it's hit.

If he read Marmoush, then that's brilliant. If he just guessed and went early, then he got lucky - but that's penalties.

Henderson's record is also now 9 saves from 21, which, I believe is one of the best records at this level of football.
