Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

TBF if you are talking about Guehi and Wharton going down injured, let me update you, Wharton missed the presentation as he was in hospital having a concussion assessment. Guehi is out for rest of season with suspected fractured eye socket.
I would be miffed about the Henderson decision but to say worst ever decision is stretching it, you should see the decisions we endure week in week out. Thought Pep and your medics behaviour left a lot to be desired tbh.
Not here to gloat, how could I our first ever trophy compared to your fantastic record. Best of luck for rest of season I am sure this season is just a blip
Fair play.

Enjoy it but obviously I'm still aggrieved.

You will see it yourself in games when the oppo take the piss.
When it becomes hard to separate the genuine injuries from the bullshitting it becomes a problem, why can't players understand this?

There were occasions yesterday when players were clearly taking the piss to stop the game, they wouldn't have done it if Palace were losing.

The FA Cup final, interrupted by needless stoppages and bullshit, VAR does not help. That's not football mate.
It was theatre and TV manipulation, just as orchestrated than the fake ridiculous Eurovision contest that followed the match!
It puts put me off going to Wembley again and I've been 25 times!

Rather you winning it than 1 of the cartel though, your Semi Final demolition of Villa probably deserves the Cup tbf.

If you weren't playing us I'd have been supporting you against one of the other usuals.

Still think you're a shitty, small London Club though ;-)

Eze looks a good lad but Mteta, a bit of a "See you next Tuesday' : -)

Well done.

Darren Cann: His past with Crystal Palace led to some controversy, notably when he was removed from officiating a 2017 FA Cup tie between Crystal Palace and Manchester City due to potential bias concerns.

But VAR is fine !
His last playing match was against us v Palace when he suffered a career ending injury.
But I don't think he was high enough up the VAR chain to effect decisions. I think.

Managers are only the "greatest of their generation" until they aren't anymore.

Jose was still considered amongst the greatest managers of his generation when he took on the project of rebuilding United. We know how that went.

The evidence showing that holding onto a manager too long makes the rebuild even harder is all around us. United, Arsenal. Inevitably there is going to be a right time for the club to make this decision.

The question should be asked about exactly how he plans to achieve it given our current team and not just answer with happy clappers legacy answers.

I don't believe we will return to our former heights with both Haaland and Pep together.
There is a fundamental incompatibility that despite our treble in the first year with Haaland really papered over that.
That’s a bit of a no shit Sherlock post and hindsight is 20/20. There is no way to know when to pull the trigger but I will state categorically 100% this is not that time.

I'm still pissed off , worst var non decision I've ever seen , don't blame moosh for missing the pen what I am fucked off about is our main striker who's just signed a 10 year contract bottling taking it , so many tepid performances this season , we could all see it not working as we have done so many times this season yet pep insisting with so many that have been out of form all season and not coming up with a different way of playing , Pep HAS to come up with different tactics as he has done so many times , it's time for some of our legends to move on , hopefully a new dawn is on the horizon

Wrong. The law isn't that he must have the ball under control at the time of the offence. The law is:

"The following must be considered:
- distance between the offence and the goal
- general direction of the play
- likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball
- location and number of defenders"

Likelihood of gaining control of the ball.

He was absolutely likely to chip the ball over Henderson and score. He has done it numerous times. I cant recall him missing one. Either way, it is still likely.
The fact Erling hadn't touched the ball doesn't matter. It was going passed the keeper for him to run onto. How many times have you seen a through ball when the attacking player is stopped by a challenge when clear on goal. It is always a red when there are no covering players. Erling was ahead of their defenders.
Don't remember at the time and I'm not about to watch it again anytime soon, but does Haaland appeal this to the officials when it happens?
I don't think he does. However, he is looking at the ball and probably unaware of where the line is

I was not aware of that and apologise for implying they were play acting. Enjoy the trophy win.

He was Assistant VAR yesterday.
If he wasn't high enough up the chain to affect decisions, he wouldn't have been there.

City should ask for the tapes from the VAR room and make a song and dance about it like the others would. BTw has that rag stooge Webb said anything or are they sticking to their original lies and letting the media get on with their usual job of burying it? The exact same lie trotted out by Shearcunt ie. He was going wide. Funny PIGMOB used the exact same lie. Funny that.

Gutted but we didn't deserve it no matter what decisions the officials made. Yes, Henderson should have been sent off.

Slow, slow football wins nothing. Playing an out of touch Haaland was a mistake that was made at Southampton in the previous week. In any case there's no point in playing Haaland if you don't feed him and we didn't. Even when we did he and Marmoush weren't there to capitalise. Poor performance by City with only Bernardo and Doku having good games. Savinho is no more than a squad player with an erratic first touch. Taking Bernardo off was another in a long line of bad decisions by Pep this season - tactical, selections, substitutions and strategic. Kevin De Bruyne looked leggy after the break and needed subbing.

Akanji's selection was understandable given the alarming lack of pace in the City defence but Eze still nipped in ahead of him. The lightening quick Khusanov who has strangely not featured in recent weeks probably would have made it.

Credit to Palace for taking their chance and pleased their fans who are brilliant as ever. They're just joyous and no trouble in my experience.

Pep needs a rethink. We cannot go on playing slow football in front of massed defences.

Players don't take enough risks probably for fear of annoying him. It is at the cost of spontaneity and we are way too predictable.

City’s rebuild needs to continue apace with genuine top quality needed to replace Kevin De Bruyne and a quality winger on the right to complement Doku.

He is tired and the team reflects this with its staleness.

Losing a 2nd successive FA Cup Final and sitting 6th in the League and needing to beat both Bournemouth and Fulham to even get 5th place says it all.

The failure to refresh the squad since Ustanbul two-years ago has been very costly. Now we are playing catch up.

We need energy and impetus in midfield that was sadly lacking with Kovacic unfit for this game. Hopefully he can make Tuesday's must win game.

We've had much worse times but it's been a bad week for us at City.
City need 4pts from the last 2 games. Our GD is better than all the others.

Careful. You'll be accused of being a conspiracy theorist. Or then again, maybe not.

We did get screwed by var.

We still didn’t do enough to win regardless.

It’s an injustice but should not be an excuse. Bernie said we have bad apples. No heart no hunger, no wonder the wheels came off.

Ridiculous comment.
This has always been part of football.
Hell go watch some Italian football from the 80s or 90s.
Watch Inters treble winning team from 2010.

There's more the one way of playing football and if the inventors of the game wanted victory to be awarded on possession and sideways passes, the laws of the game would have been written that way.

This is sour grapes from the richest team in world football with a possession style manager. We don't get to tell teams how to play football. This kind of comment that makes us look like entitled pricks.

They played us beautifully, because they played a legal style of play we obviously can't cope with despite our resources.

Their job isn't to go toe to toe playing our style of football, it's to make us uncomfortable and to win their game, and they did.

Unfortunately can't down vote.
They played us beautifully? Did you go to the game? They scored a goal on the break and then proceeded to hoof the ball up the pitch any chance they got and then roll around on the floor the rest of the time.

Played us beautifully, what a load of horseshit. I don’t mind getting beat it’s part of the game but to call that anything but any attempt not to play the actual game is just virtue signalling bollocks.
