I like the analogy. Issue is, we only have one big gun at the moment. He's not gonna be accurate with all the rounds we give him, so we need more guns.

Remember when we had Aguero, Sterling, Sane, Mahrez, prime Kev, all contributing 15+ goals over a season? Even as far back as Mancini; we had Aguero, Dzeko, Yaya, Silva, all of them hitting double figures. I'd happily sacrifice this possession obsession for a much more clinical squad of players that play faster, transition football.

Again, we forget now that Sterling also lacked Pep level technique, shooting and control. He was Doku with more speed and less suddenness.

He just happened to play in an era when our team football was out of this world. While,; think Sterling is overall better than Doku, i think they'd have faired similarly in that system.

I will politely have to disagree. Sterling at one point in time was one the best wingers in the world. In his worst season for us, he still got more goals and assists than Doku has in two seasons for us.

And let's not forget that Doku was signed specifically to play in this formation. We've changed everything to accommodate him cutting in from the left and a winger cutting in from the right.

He beats his man every game but Haaland waits at far post every time. In any event he was signed to replace Mahrez on the right but has performed much better on the left.

They just seem to have no chemistry. I expect him to get another year and be changed in stage 2 of the rebuild next summer (rightly or wrongly)

Doku tends to try and stand the full back up go past him. Means the box is usually more crowded and very hard to hit the far post so he usually plays it hear post or penalty spot. That ball he played to Nunes against Villa is the kind of service Haaland needs. So it may yet work.

Well why doesn't he get his head up and try and get a cross to the back post then?

Doku and Haaland could be on the pitch on their own and Doku would still find a defenders shin with his cross.

Doku deserves another season, he has shown enough and has changed games numerous times this season.

Overall output ain’t good enough and definitely some consistency issues, but there is a player there somewhere.

Savinho, again deserves another season, very young and offers something.

I think the cost and time involved, having to sell one to get Rodrygo, the gain is not worth it.

Falls into upgrade, and I’m not 100% how much.

We still have Bobb to come in, not sure Pep will trust Foden in the middle and how we do play Mahmoush and Haaland, so we seem stacked.

A RB, LB and 2 CM’s all of starting quality is our priority and potentially something GK related as I doubt Ederson and Ortega will be here next season.

We'd never know i suppose. Im not claiming Sterling is not better. I fully agree and admit he is a superior player and late in his time with us, he developed his cross and shooting. So he was damn near World Class at some point... Of that i have zero doubts. I am a Sterling truther. Loved him before City, during his supposed sucky years and in his WC years.

All im saying is Doku in that same team would have been dynamite. And Sterling in this one would have struggled.

Its just different eras in my eyes.

Doku will be a fantastic rotational sparkplug off the bench. We need an elite level finishing left winger. The right hand side can be inside forwards with fullback providing width. We need a mahrez type again. There isn't a single successful club that doesn't have a high level winger contributing goals.

23 goals and assists this season in his worst season. Averaged a goal or assist every 140 mins.

27 G/A last season and 30 G/A season prior.

Turns up in the big games as well. Multiple goals in CL quarters and semi finals.

Doku and Savio could only ever dream of those numbers.

Guy is one of the best wingers in the game

Funniest thing in the world is when city fans turn they nose up at Rodygo when we have Doku Savio Grealish Bobb.

Doku I love. Always tries. MOTM yesterday. But he’s not compatible with Haaland. 3 assists in 2 years.

Savio is 2 years younger so he’s even more inconsistent. My patience ran out a few weeks ago. only works with Haaland when on LW and there’s space behind.

Bobb has been gone a whole year.

Grealish will be loaned out soon.

I don’t want to give up on either of the first two.
But for the here and NOW.

After the season we’ve had. You can’t tell me we don’t have a winger issue. Their numbers …. idc who it is. We need a forward. Rodygo Mbemuo whoever that knows how to score and create for their striker. I can’t go through this season again.

Classic city transfer strategy. Bruno G is far too expensive at 100. I’m going to get Phillips, Nunes and NOW NICO G FOR 150 million instead. Guess what ? WE HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER MIDFIELDER WHY ? Because those are good enough. We have to pay 70 for Reinjders. But if you just stop being brain dead for a second and realised pay the money once and we don’t have to worry about that position we’d all be chilling sipping cocktails at the beach and worry about the backline and attack. Hear me now. Nico G was 60m and he has been ghosted by Pep, even when Kova is injured. If he doesn’t like him while it’s clear he doesn’t the club wouldve spent 144 million pounds on players he doesn’t rate. This strategy is cheaper in the short run but as we can see it’s expensive in the long run because you have to correct your mistakes.
