Florian Wirtz

Nice to see that you take notice of the papers/media/social media on our "transfer targets".
I'm not on any social media thankfully, I can see links that posters put on here regarding transfers the only one I really pay any attention to is Jack Gaughan.

Then again, It's not really important what Jack Gaughan says regarding our summer targets, What is important is how the club conducts themselves in transfer windows and who we actually sign.

Going off previous windows over the last two years we certainly need to up out game when it comes to incomings.

honestly we deserve to be in the europa league next season. unserious club deserves to be in the unserious competition.
Joined the forum in 2021 - tells us all you've no idea about the club, only that we've won alot of trophies recently.
Jog off back to keeping tabs on Madrid/Barcelona/Bayern.
We've been in far worse spots than this - sometimes players decide they'd rather go elsewhere, we can't force them to join.
We'll get back on our game - it might just take some time

Not sure how Gaughan has earned a reputation here …
Seems to be wrong as much as he’s right to me. Just another chancer. He apparently had Omar the rat dripping into his ear but that twat is now at the swamp.
Personally I think all these so called journalists who tittle tattle about the club are full of shit.

He's clearly just chosen Bayern, as always seemed likely, and us "withdrawing" is just PR spin.
Still not a great look on our part though Ric.
I'd rather they just stated the facts rather than cloud it - it wouldn't make a difference to other players we target.
Sometimes you have to accept players choose other clubs for a variety of reasons - clubs based in London/Madrid etc. I suspect in this case the draw of the biggest team in Germany (whether we like it or not)

Sadly, I think you’ve hit on a very salient point that is overlooked by many.

The way City play is stifling for most world class players. I give you Haaland as a prime example and also the way Grealish and Foden, two great English hopes, have seemingly died on the vine at City.

Players want to play exciting football for exciting teams. They want to express themselves, not be strapped into a “round peg, round hole” framework where their natural talents are stifled.

Pep has absolutely revolutionized football with some of his tactics, especially the sweeper keeper and the inverted fullbacks, which always seeks to overload the opposition and create an open man.

HOWEVER, it has become stale, pedestrian, boring, and, quite frankly, easy to overcome by even the most industrial of teams. Pep has turned potential world class players into laborers, whose primary function is to “recycle, recycle, recycle” until we bore the opposition into submission.
Teams simply play a 6-4/4-5-1/5-4-1 against us and dare us to break them down by finding the space in a collapsed formation camped on the edge of its own penalty area.

Even against that kind of rearguard action, we have become boring, merely shuttling the ball from side to side, rather than sending it intently danger areas looking for a touch, a second ball, or a deflection…something to create anxiety at the back!

Instead, we simply allow defenders to shuffle 5 yards right or 5 yards left to blunt what passes for an attack.
Compounding this, we have two strikers who love nothing more than chasing the ball in behind, which never comes, and they get frustrated.

We have world class midfielders who are taught to stifle the instincts and abilities that created their reputations and, instead, make safe 5 yards passes.

All 3 goals were brilliant, but at 3:45 one of the best team goals of the last decade is on display.

Where did THIS City go???

Absolute class and some of the best football anyone has ever seen coming from the Boys in Blue under Pep!

Will we ever see a team like that again, will we ever see players in a blue shirt play with freedom like that again

Reijnders, MGW will be great in midfield with Rodri, we only need one of Foden, Ecchiverri, Bobb or Nico O to hit form next year, add Rodri Nico G two top FB's Ait Nouri and a RB, were cooking, Costa and another No2, don't see how Rodrygo works with Marmoush on the left no thanks, unless we trade Erl for Yamal, put Marmoush center

Possibly, but currently looks like we'll have to wait a couple of seasons.
Pep's always been open about his philosophy, if the team don't lose the ball the opponent can't score.
Problem at the moment is we can have as much of the ball as you like, we don't really have anyone to do something meaningful with it.
Quicker/longer passes for Haaland and Marmoush would be good, but doubt it'll happen

I also think that we need to trust certain players to hit form again/or and get better next season ( Savinho, Doku, Echeverri, Khusanov) we need to build our own players again it seems. Still I’d like a creative player like Simons or Cherki just to make sure .
Also the club has to release at least 1 of Bernardo and Gundo. This extension shit for Gundogan is just another bad thing that happened. It’s stunting the growth of O’Reilly who will most likely be more of a LB backup than CM next season.

This is a genuine question: does the data for Wirtz back up the package that his team are looking for which does seem huge? I'm not asking if he's a good player, just whether he's that much more of a player data wise than everyone else on the market.
