Guardiola said he felt he owed other players a chance to be in the squad instead

So many amateur expert coaches on here. Pay Pep off and let the Bluemoon moaners take over, and see what hapoens.

I really don't care who's in charge at City. I'd just like to see entertaining football rather than the turgid, repetitive, risk averse dross that's been served up too regularly this season.

Football is football whether you win trophies or not, people oay to be entertained, not bored shitless.

Echeverri made his debut as a sub in the final. Played well. He could hardly believe he had not scored with his first touch. That would have been some debut. Why was he not selected earlier? Ah, yes, Pep picks them out of a hat.
That move had me hearing alarm bells. Either he's out of ideas and is just rolling the dice or has been waiting for some pivotal moment to unleash Echeverri. After some of the decisions Pep's made this season, I personally think it's the former.

Probably was but it almost worked.

I put that down to coincidence more than anything. If you're going to make a move like that with Echeverri, last week against Southampton when we're toothless and devoid of any spark in the final third with CL qualification still on the table was the time to do it.

Maybe but the final was running away by that time and to be honest I don’t think anyone else would have done much.

Personally I would have taken O’Reilly off at half time and brought Nunes on.

I think O’Reilly has looked really tired the last couple of games he has played.

I’d have also brought Gundogan on much earlier. That 87th min sub was the most bizarre of the lot for me.

Fair on the first point.

Nunes not coming on with Foden was a big missed opportunity for me. Akanji looked like he was laboring because he isn't fully fit and at least Nunes will put a damn cross into the box while we have Haaland out there.

Only using three subs and letting de Bruyne play the full 90 when he was decent at best in a final just doesn't make sense to me. Hell, I'd have taken Grealish for 30 minutes instead of de Bruyne.

I thought De Bruyne played well first half. Obviously as the game got more desperate, the decision making wasn’t as good and he wasn’t as good. He did create 4 chances though on Saturday.

The biggest disappointments for me were Marmoush, Haaland and Savinho.

Depressing watching those three. Terrible state of things when Doku is our only chance at getting anything.

he is voicing more and more how he doesnt like a big squad when there arent many injuries. he said in December -January when we had lot of players missing we may need a 30 man squad and approved two new CB signings when he had Walker off and Ake, Stones, Akanji all injured same time, but now he has big problems selecting match squads even with Kova, Rodri, Bobb, Stones, Rodri injured.
not even sure Bobb is injured at all. no idea wtf is his status actually.

but with more CL games and players looking so fucking tired and slow all year and injuries pop up every game, we cannot risk the small squad mantra.

This shit was obvious when he kept talking about how "those who were with him" months ago and playing through injuries etc would be the ones he remembered etc.

Akanji playing was a reward for that I guess because he had no other reason to be on the pitch ahead of Nunes.

I think the RDAHMeedya have been looking for one smart arsed question after another and one attempt at catching Pep out with some smart 'probing' analysis after a game is quickly followed by another. Pep knows what they are at and replies appropriately, often with a good dose of bullshine!

Totally disagree, Akanji was slow ponderous
And took an age to make a pass which was all sidewards.nunes at least can put a decent cross in and would have worked better with saviinho.
Love the guy but he was dreadful yesterday
Just couldn’t wait to give the ball to someone else.
The previous match at Southampton Akanji (along with Dias) I thought was partially responsible for the very slow build up.

Not defending Savinho because he really frustrates me, but the amount of time Akanji took in getting the ball to him on Saturday meant that the defenders were able to get in position.

Surely Pep sees this though and can change it.

Be careful as to what entertaining football you wish for. I have found United quite entertaining this year.

Ps 1 goal tomorrow has us as second highest scorers in the league
Sometimes the grass is always greener - we have been spoilt

We have and it's easy to turn into a jap sniper when we aren't.

Savinho has to learn to track back and drive forward from deeper positions. Even FFS learned to do this and was often found making last man tackles towards the end of his time.

I can accept that Savinho is a young players still learning, hopefully something registers soon.

Standing out wide waiting while our 6'2" defender lumbers up the pitch is not a recipe for success...
