Heard nothing in recent weeks to say Wirtz was seriously coming here.

Suspect Wirtz was doing Leverkusen a favour maximising his price.

Don't believe for a second City haven't known the costs involved.

Im pretty fine with the decision of the Club to not make it.

He agreed with Bayern for 25m€ and our checkbook doesnt work like that as only Haaland und KDB are the ones who deserved to earn it.

Only because we have the Money the Club has their principles.

I‘m sure he wants more than the 25m agreed as we are not his first option. Walk away and let him solve his problem with Leverkusen to agree with Bayern.

Yes he is very good and talented, but not a finished player in terms of be a direct replacement for KDB prime who works directly. Maybe he needs time and the expextations will be to high, you never know.

Agree with this. If the opposition don't want to play football there isn't much you can do about it. Each game we play I hope we get an early goal to prise the fuckers away from their own 18 yard box and then the game can become more open. Unfortunately this season the exact opposite usually occurs and it's them that's scored first and the very little ambition they had going forward to begin with has almost gone altogether.

It's like those saying we need to play to Haaland's strengths. His strengths are chasing balls in behind. Sides are fully aware of this now so they just sit deep and that alone pretty much neutralises this threat altogether. Often rendering Haaland a passenger for most of the game. He's poor in the air for his size and his touch generally isn't great in and around packed boxes. The only time Erling really becomes effective is in the rare games we've gone a couple ahead and the opposition are forced to throw caution to the wind and spaces open up for him. He'd be more effective in a counter-attacking side and not one that dominates possession, but the build up play is slow and ponderous.

Even if we don't get Wirtz, this shows we're actually ambitious enough to get back to where we were.

This is the standard of player that made us the best team in the world. Many of them have left in recent years. Few have arrived.

I stand by this. A bit gutted he won't be playing for us but at least it looks like we're looking to sign the right players.

Now I just hope the backup targets are genuinely quality and not in the "he can do a job" category.

Think it’s fairly obvious that he was genuinely interested in joining us, right up to last week, but has now decided against it.
Obviously no idea as to the exact reasons. But I dare say that, were it the city of two years ago who were knocking on his door, as comfortably the best team in Europe, he’d have been all over us. Perhaps a reminder how quickly things can change and how costly it can be to take your eye off the ball. Disappointing but we move on. Hopefully the signings we make will mean no-one is too arsed about this come August.

If he watched Saturday's shit show he'd have made up his mind fairly quickly. Not much attraction in City's style of play now is there. He was never coming here anyway, Pep knew, otherwise he'd have made it his business to be here to meet him.

We walk away when the prospective player doesn't buy in. With us struggling to confirm playing in the CL and failing to score in our ĺast 2 matches, we aren't looking at our most enticing.

Hopefully we find a good alternative and he goes to BM not the dippers.

A "generational talent" I saw someone describe him as yesterday.

Those we cannot have are always hyped up beyond comprehension, whilst those we have are underappreciated. Always the way.

If he doesn't want to join us then we have to accept it. No point chasing any further or throwing money at it to get a deal done that isn't for the right reasons.
