Florian Wirtz

Having money left over for another decent player is pointless with Pep because he likes a small squad which needs to be full of quality.

If we are being very numbers based in the league Gibbs White has 47 g/a in 153 games. Wirtz has 82 g/a in 140 games. Much closer to double now.

Nobody at the start of the season would have wanted Gibbs White. If you don't buy quality you end up buying twice. Maybe 3 times if you take Phillips and Nunes into consideration.
MGW didn't just emerge this season.

Title done already for next season if they get them 3 mate
Behave no one knows that. No one thought liverpool would win it this year when the spent nowt. Let's just wait and see who we get before throwing in the towel. Wirtz could flop as could frimpong. Football isn't played on paper.

Its not about who you back mate its about who the board backs. The man gone in 2 years? Or the new man whos here to build for future
One is a proven winner and the other one is a nobody. If the nobody cant work with the best manager around my assumption is that he is out of his depth. Viana has to prove himself to have a future here. For all we know he could be sacked in 6 months. No I dont think it will happen, but time and trust is earned, not given.

We signed him in 2021. Inflation takes that to about £123m today.

So now it's what if we only signed Wirtz? Are you saying we are that mismanaged that is all we realistically can afford despite freeing up £400k a week from KDB?
That's a great guess:

Breaking it down year by year:
- 2021 to 2022: £100M × 1.02588 = £102.588M
- 2022 to 2023: £102.588M × 1.09067 = £111.894M
- 2023 to 2024: £111.894M × 1.07303 = £119.076M
- 2024 to 2025: £119.076M × 1.02530 = £122.08M
- Final 2025 adjustment: £122.08M × 1.02983 = £125.52M
So, the real value of £100 million in 2021, adjusted for inflation, is approximately £125.5 million in 2025.

Probably for the same reason Van Dijk did. As much as we hate the scouse cunts, they are still one of the top 5 or 6 clubs in world football. You are right though about resting on our laurels after the treble. If Liverpool sign Wirtz, frimpong and Kerkez then that's how you put the boot on the throat of your rivals from a position of power. Just hope we can get the lad from AC Milan as he looks a player and hope we have a couple more aces up our sleeve. My only worry is us shifting some of our players.
Mad that you'd say VVD picked them over us, when there's video proof we didn't think he was worth the money.

Watch the Amazon doc from years ago

Are we going of that one bbc report from a random journo that we had “cooled” our interest which was then shared by JG. Or did I miss something more concrete that we are out of this???

dippers know its harder to retain title than win it. they had no serious rivals this year. 71 point Arsenal is 2nd. fucking Ten Hag finished 3rd with 75 points in his debut season...

they also want to do better in CL and retain the title. thats the thing if they pull off Kerkez, Frimpong, Wirtz and thats 3 transfer that go into the first 11.

+Mamardashvili coming in for them also as they phase out Allison in a year, not bad forward planning.

The way I see it is we’re after signing a KDB replacement. Wirtz is one of the best AM about, but he doesn’t compare to KDB, no player is. We’ve got last years player of the season who is only 24 years himself. £130m for the German equivalent of Foden is some serious cash and a risk considering we need players across a few positions. Is it more of a risk paying £130m for Wirtz or hoping Foden returns to form next season? I’d say dishing out that sort of money is more risky myself but it’s up for debate.

Back to the KDB replacement. We could be after his replacement for 20 years and no player will come close to the genius we have watched for ten years. I think the best approach is to adapt instead of trying to replicate.

I thought on Monday that Liverpool would sign Wirtz. I’m not trying to downplay them signing him, but they haven’t got a Foden of last year and previous years. Both are similar players and I don’t think signing Wirtz would have been particularly great for Foden. You’ve got Oscar Bobb too who will be wanting to make an impression next season. It makes Liverpool better, but I feel like it’s not a huge blow like many others would.

Agree.
Time will tell if Viana will be a success here but most (not all) of what I'm reading about our potential business is very unconvincing.
As a result I will assume Viana is out of his depth until the opposite has been proven.
He has certainly made a really bad first impression.
#VianaOut
Viana has been here for 2 minutes and we want him out now? How sad are the people in this forum?

His talent level? Everyone knows how talented that guy is. Is there something on the offensive side he can’t do? Either left foot or right foot he can do it all.
Character. The club can’t know shit since he plays for Lyon and not City. No one here knows him personally. The negative stuff which is used here happened when the guy was 17(!) year old.
„ how he fits our system“ that’s the problem. We going to leave a top player because he can’t do whatever we are expecting but MGW can. We draw the line at MGW but Cherki wouldn’t fit it…

I don’t mind him going to another club and tearing the league apart. Despite talents like Doue - Cherki is the current biggest name in the league. Even when Lyon played vs PSG. Cherki was clear of everyone else on the pitch.

People are crying for creative players but apparently they ain’t even good enough even when they are CLEAR of everyone else in the same category we are crying for.
There are no alternatives for Cherki and Simons. If it’s not Wirtz this 2 are the only replacements.

First off, I've only seen him connected to United as a target, so it is quite possible the top clubs don't think he is talented enough for the top levels of football. With all due respect you are relying too much on your own assessment of his talent. The scouts at major clubs may not think he is legit.

In addition, we absolutely do careful character assessments of players.
Marmoush talked about recently how much time we spent trying to dig into his character.

Check out havertz g/a at bayer before he joined chelsea. Check out werners g/a at rb liepzig before he joined chelsea. G/A means nothing in bundesliga when you are moving to the premier league.

Worked out alright for both Haaland and De Bruyne though.

For what it's worth I wasn't the one who brought that up in the first place. Difficult to judge players with stats from different leagues anyway. Especially when 1 of them has never been good enough to play in the CL

Posters actually imagining scenarios where Pep and Viana have a fall out. Some even throwing the towel in already for next season. lol.

All because one player may sign for liverpool...

Absolute wet wipes..

They've got a spoilt mardarse mentality which more closely resembles rag type behaviour, some of the posts are proper bobbins they need to give their head's a serious shake.
