Florian Wirtz

Do you honestly think if we had maintained our levels of last season (which were not as high as the season before but still high) Liverpool would have won the league? I am being a bit arrogant but there was little recruitment on their behalf with a team no way near the title the season before, they brought a new manager in who was not pursued by any other big club.
Who maintains the same level of football year after year? No team and we were already worse last season than season before, Liverpool has a really good team and coach and Wirtz will only make them stronger. To win the title ,City needs to be better than Liverpool ,cause i don´t think Arsenal will be better of those 2.

People don't make sense

He chose them, why well onlynge knows

Those that lost our will say money, dodgy dealing etc etc etc to cope with it (all pur signings are accused of the saame by others)

ultimately he came over and spoke to both parties after the feeling was it was gping one way, we pulled out, Bayern had shot their bolt weeks before being snide amd leaking lies he was never going there after that.

We missed out shit happens but there is no strange reason or mystery, he didn't fancy us isn't the first and won't be the last

Don't even know why this thread is still going as tbh who gives a shite anymore anyway
Probably all ready been covered but why wasn’t Pep around when Wirtz visited the Campus? Didn’t show any desire to sign him or had we already got a steer he was going elsewhere?

Are you a dipper? Liverpool team already flourishing, still be winning, perfect environment. None of that is true, Liverpool had a lucky break this season competing against a city team with the worst drop in form since Keegan left, no one had them winning this league. If Wirtz believes that he’s an idiot and if it doesn’t want the pressure of replacing KDB he will not make it to the top level.
Calling me a dipper because of what??? That team just won the league comfortably yeah. Also, wirtz has no relations to us where he is now obliged to join us. Kdb is the greatest ever player in the Premier league. Replacing him, like for like, no matter whom you bring in will fail. I'm here talking from wirtz pov. He is not a fan like us, so he will take the best option, which is not in a situation where he has to replace arguably the greatest ever player in epl. LETS MOVE ON, THIS THREAD IS DEPRESSING NOW.

It's 99% done, just formalities now. According to reports, he is desperate for the move, not sure what kind of witchcraft could have made a German international reject Bayern and also reject a chance to work with pep and go to Liverpool and work with slot instead. Funny times.
From what I've heard it seems he has a weird fascination with the tradition of coach bricking..only second to his enjoyment of watching Bulgarian waiters having paving stones smashed onto their heads.
He also wants to see dipper fans jibbing into grounds and causing mayhem wherever they go..with the added bonus of nicking tickets off their own fans..

Come out of your cocoon mate, it's done, live with it. City have pulled out, he wants liverpool, bayer wants him to go to liverpool, his family wants liverpool, there is no force in this world that will stop that from happening now, not even real madrid. It'll be tough for City, but let's see what's going to happen.
You are Aguerooooooooooo and I claim my £5

Thread headline: Florian Wirtz - City withdraw interest. Pg 543

200 page later and we're still talking about him. He's made his choice, move on guys.

I reckon our deal is still on the table but subject to a CL place next year. There could be a lot of movement on this after today's match
That makes sense. Has there been an official statement we'd withdrawn from the Wirtz deal because I've not see one. I've seen some guessing in the press that we've pulled out, but nothing official. I think you may he right. Can't have Liverpool signing him...unless the financials are mad. If Liverpool get him they'll be using the rest of the Coutinho money.

You are so naive!

It’s the interest from the Countinho money. The actual money is still there. It will be there forever and ever and ever.

We weren't able to maintain our levels though, the 4th in a row clearly took a heavy toll on the squad. Nevertheless, Liverpool have performed incredibly well and should be commended for selecting a coach who may have been slightly left field - surely that's a positive rather than a negative

The stories have started. Apparently they are paying him 350k pw. When he was coming to us it was going to be on a par with Erl. Next it will be 60m rather that 150m.
I still don't understand his decision. But then its none of my business.

Using this logic we’d never lose the league ever again.

In March, Liverpool actually had more points at that stage since we’d had in the 100 points season. They only dropped off when it was clear they were going to win it.

What is it you’re struggling with?

Reading some of the posts on here it’s as though we’ve been sacked off by Wirtz in favour of a transfer to Brighton, with all due respect to them.

We all hate Liverpool with a passion, but they aren’t some muggy little nobody.

If the opposite of Carlsberg did posts.
I have a feeling that your facts come from social media.

Just to clear up one of your points, the January signings have a total of 45 appearances between them.
Our greatest ever player is no longer our greatest player, but our highest wage-earner, which sort of destroys your wage-bill point.

The Brazilian kid, I am guessing you mean Reis, is the captain of Brazil U18, and a big prospect. Should Ake or Stones leave, or both, I imagine you will be glad that we had the foresight to secure some of the best young defenders in world football.

As your post-January stats, you could equally say that Savinho, Doku and Grealish are part of the squad that won the first ever four-peat, if you decide to judge them on parts of seasons.
Ermmmm the stats for Doku Grealish and Savinho were for the season - not since Xmas. All have a pathetic returns and the reason why we are still scratching for top 5.

Don’t disagree about KDB leaving - but MGW for big money is not for me.

As for Reis - massively overpaid for him - all the Brazilian journos said we had our pants pulled down. If you wanna say Reis has Brazil junior team caps then what our our English youth kids like Alleyne or Braithwaite etc worth. They have better representation for England teams through the age groups than Reis has for Brazil

Reis and Khusanov were panic buys. Pep at least had a look at Khusanov before freezing him out. Neither can get a sniff now of action during a period we had 3 centre half’s injured and literally no full backs. They ain’t gonna improve or developed when they can’t get in the squad. Why was Reis not playing for the EDS team every week.

As for Stones and Ake leaving - firstly - who do you think is picking up the £200k per week wages for the 10 games a season they are fit.

Anybody thinking we just say off you pop to Grealish Stones etc and please don’t ask for the 80 or 90 m we owe you in wages is not seeing the real picture.

I've no problem with him not choosing us. IF, you believe all the stories about all his choices abroad some would make more sense to me, but I'm not him. His fitness and injury record will be tested playing there under that system, then there is the whole Liverpool thing and all the baggage that goes with it for a player. They have never signed a world class player in his prime for some time but others have become that, maybe that's what he's hoping.

I’d sooner go for Eberechi Eze than MGW and I mean no disrespect but it seems we have not learnt our lesson from the past two seasons. We should do better I think honestly. I mean no disrespect just stating things as objectively as I can.
