I agree. I like the look of that.

Even though we both know it’s a squad game and starting XI’s are just a bit of fun, I’d remove Nico G. He’d be my Rodri sub.

His slot would need to go to a new £100m+ signing who would be our box to box.
A bit like KDB was…

In fact just do this again with KDB in it just to make me happy please ;-)

Nico is a box to box midfileder though, because we bought him to cover our DM dowsn't meann would shouldn't try him in that role.

There is no Kev replacement anywhere in the world atm.

MGW will have one training session at City to realise he is technically out of his depth. Phillips realised the same.

We have tried for statement signings 3 years on the trot - but been told to do one by Bellingham Rice and Wirtz.

After rejection we seem to we are turn our attention to MGW etc. Simply not good enough but a good chance our recruitment team can sign him.

The fact is we’ve gone from the best midfield in Europe to probably not even top 5 midfields in England.

Rodri must look at us signing Nico and MGW and wonder what the fuck are we doing. We’ve gone from a midfield where everybody has 100 caps each to these 2 signings that have 2 international caps between them !!

He will be telling them you should saw me first season fans was calling me plodri..

I'm glad you've felt the need to share your opinions with me. I feel honoured that a johnny come lately, who doesn't go to watch City, feels so strongly about my views.

All the best Ahsan

A classic of its genre that mate. You've certainly brightened up today's Bluemoon interlude.

You suit your username fuck me.

Nope. They both turned into world class players after. Neither was remotely a world class player (term used WAY too loosely) much less a statement signing the day the put pen to their City contract.
True about 'world class' ...means something different to everyone, but KDB was the standout player in Germany the season we bought him. Wirtz looks good, but nowhere near what he's hyped to be, and MGW is not even bang average, and we have better.

So we seem to have a lot of posters that don’t agree with the clubs strategy.

Buying players who are already at a good level and could possibly go up v buying ready made world class players.

I don’t see why we can’t do both. Something that has always bothered me is the pep effect. Surely we have world class targets who would love to play for pep but it won’t seem to happen for whatever reason, finances or doesn’t fancy city?

The club generally don’t go after world class. So the names mentioned in the thread is probably accurate. I don’t have a problem with it but can understand why some people do.

Some of the stellar names may demand a starting place as well

Reijnders looks to be first transfer based on reports for the summer rebuild.
expect it costing us 60m pounds or so. 15m-ish agent fee. salary around 200-250K, unless we want to make him 2nd best paid player (once KDB and Grealish are out) but that would be strange as I dont think he is on that level. (neither was Grealish to be fair to jump ahead so much compared to Bernie, Gundo etc)

Reijnders is 27 years old within weeks, I hope he is an instant hit and will manage to pick up our style and the differences between PL and La Liga.

what scares me a bit that rag Mctominay went to Serie A and became fucking Maradona or Francesco Totti. dont know if thats because the level of Serie A and could be rather easy to impress there or he got lucky and overperformed big time to unexpected levels...

We went after Haaland who was the hottest property in world football.
But I think we did that for two reasons. Firstly he had a connection with us so it was an easier sell than getting someone like Mbappe and secondly he shifts shirts.
There was no reason football wise to sign him in my opinion as we don't play to his strengths. He got a shed load in his first season as he was playing for one of the greatest club sides of all time.
However now we are not quite as good his unsuitability is more obvious.

The first 11 needs it imo. I don’t mind the players we are linked with. If they come I will wait and see how it all works.

Haaland was the last big name but he has struggled this season. So maybe the team’s functionally is more important than a world class name. Justifies the clubs strategy of getting players in who fit the system. Shame we can’t have both lol

We also haven't had a functional 10 in this side consistently for coming up on 2 years now
