Seems like a mistake has led to this.
I’m not excusing what the man has done but it seems he’s taken a wrong turn and got dogs abuse which is expected in this situation.
It also seems then things have started to be thrown at the car and someone has opened his door and he’s panicked and tried to drive off.
Maybe the guy feared for his safety.
Not an excuse but you never know how people can react when in that situation.
Sadly it’ll be the innocent fans that have been hit, not the ones throwing things or trying to get into his car.
As others have said I’m not sure how the car has managed to get in that situation in the first place.
Definitely shouldn’t be able to get anywhere near the fans in a car.
The police will be at fault for that.
As I said earlier wishing those involved a speedy recovery and hopefully a few rumours I’ve seen about deaths are untrue.
Regardless it doesn’t look good.
I'd imagine, and hope, that the truth will come out in the next few days. As of now, it looks like the terrorism theories seem to be diminishing by the minute. Ordinary guy that panicked? Someone high on booze and/or drugs? Someone with psychological issues? As others have said, it's a mystery how he got his car down that road. It's like someone somehow getting a car onto Deansgate during one of our recent parades.

Absolutely, monumental fuck up from Merseyside police, how has he even managed to get as near as he did with no coppers there

95% of the force still looking at footage to identify those who attacked our coach?

But seriously we have our differences but no fan wants another fan to celebrate a big day and not come home. I hope everyone is well as can be expected

It’s the councils job to implement road closures.

I’m not sure how to prevent somebody who is determined to do this -

Modern world of course-but people want answers immediately when it will take time.

Potentially days, weeks and even years to unravel it.

Do people really expect an answer exactly now?
I certainly don't, but equally I felt you praising the actions of the police seems somewhat premature.

Maybe there's a reason but it would seem like a failing for the car to be there on the first place.

Absolutely awful, horrible. I hope everyone affected makes a full and swift recovery, physically and mentally.

Everyone asking how the fuck a car was able to get to where it happened, there’s an NCP car park 20-30 meters from the spot it occurred, and various other side roads that lead onto Water Street. All those side roads are full of parking spaces too. Unless every single side road was blocked off, it wouldn’t have been at all difficult to get down Water Street.

Anyway, incredibly sad and praying everyone makes a full and swift recovery.

The driver could have come out of a private underground garage within the parade area and not knowing what the fuck was going on and which way to go.
Until the details are fully known it's difficult to speculate.

He fucking ran over people mate what is there to speculate

The question again has to be asked. How does a car end up there in front of an ambulance, when the street is full of 1000's of people?

Where are the stewards? Where are the Police? Why aren't the Police at the car finding out why it is there, and detaining the driver?

I'm sorry, but as we all know, Merseyside Police are fucking clowns.

Yes, I think those responsible for the organisation of this need to take a long hard look at themselves. Guy's a fucking dick for what he's done and he deserves everything that's coming to him, but from the video I've seen anybody would be intimidated being in that car.

A lady has just been on Skysports News that was there and she said she probably wouldn't be here now if the car wasn't beeping the horn.

What a horrific turn of events. Wish the fucker had just deserted his car. It's only a fucking car at the end of the day ffs. Now numerous families have had their lives turned upside down from what appears to be a spontaneous moment of madness or a panic attack.

I was praising the response of the police-firstly we don’t have lynchings in this country, secondly it would’ve been police officers dealing with the casualties-before ambulances arrived-and would’ve dealt with horrific injuries….

No officer on that route would’ve had responsibility for route planning-perhaps mistakes were made but that will come out at some point but that’s not the immediate priority.

In addition to the criminal investigation from an internal police point of view Federation staff will be called out along with Professional Standards and the IOPC.

There is literally shit loads to manage.

Didn't know what was going on, ffs!

The whole fucking world knew it was their parade today, and it's happened about 5 hours into it!

100%

When the dust settles on this, Merseyside Police are going to be scrutinised like never before.

Not sure it's normally the company that's has applied for the road closures responsibility for insuring it's safety.
We as a council have road closures ( last week for operation dynamo ).
We employ a road closure company as well as trained council staff.
Every single road is blocked and manned. Side roads with barriers and marshals with radio.
On any road where a car can get speed we use a hard block ie a vehicle.

Going off the video it seemed like a few minutes of hassle before he did the unthinkable, I just don’t understand how units aren’t within a moment as soon as something happens. With the way the world is at the minute, I just assumed the police would be all over it, able to respond at numerous locations within a minute. If manpowers an issue, don’t hold a parade, knocks me sick the thought of taking my girls to a parade and knowing you’re within striking distance from absolute lunatics.
