Incident at Liverpool Title Parade May 26th

This! Why wasn't auto traffic closed off two blocks or so from parade route? It was advertised. Park a few blocks away and hoof it in.
 
Scouse.jpgI was at lime street tonight and I saw the best and worst of humanity. The large crowds plus the tragedy put staff on high alert and the decision was made to "lockdown" the station. They set up one entrance queuing system and set up barriers right down to Moorfields station. The picture above the police were trying to stop some people crashing through the barriers. The train I was working back was held "until full" so we could do our bit of taking people home. On board there was a group of women distressed and crying. They had witnessed the incident. A BTP officer going back to Sheffield trying to interview and comfort them. Meanwhile a group of pissed up kids are acting like nothings happened and singing a few Liverpool songs. I could hear the shutters on the other entrances being kicked repeatedly. Some police and station staff headed toward it to reinforce it. The journey back felt very strange.

The shit **** that did this in of all places this city needs to held fully accountable for his actions. I was hoping at best it was a tragic accident where the driver may have been too ill to keep control of the vehicle. Sadly after seeing some of the videos on Sky News just now I fear it was a deliberate act.

The video's I've seen show fans kicking and punching the car before the collision.

Looked more of a fight-or-flight panic reaction than anything else, but I wasn't there,so I could be well wide of the mark.

Ether way, it's a shit situation.

It's a bit fucking weird, pushing the fact he is a white man.

They will know if he was a Dipper leaving the parade or, if he wasn't.

His actions today resulted in mob rule and from then on the situation escalated disastrously.

Nobody comes out of this well, the planners, the Police, the fans and him.

You do feel if the cops did their job and stopped the Liverpool supporters attacking his car he would never have got scared/lost his temper and floored it. Thank god the City coach driver reacted differently under similar circumstances

Give them a break. They don't have much recent experience organizing this sort of thing.

Yeah, at the start of the thread I said it's hard to tell if it's intentional/terrorism or someone who fucked up and trying to flee in a panic.

The more I see videos, it's looking like the latter.

There's one video where the driver has clearly stopped and beeping his horn. Didn't seem the actions of someone that went there to intentionally run people over.

Either way he'll rightfully get banged up for it, regardless of if his intent was to go there and do that or not.

Looks like he's been a fucking idiot and drove somewhere he shouldn't and put people danger, the crowd have reacted violently to that which has made him panic and get away without thinking and harmed even more people.

Mind you, some are saying the roads weren't actually closed off. Not sure if that's true but that's idiotic too if not.

Agreed but as a small group had started smashing his rear and drivers side rear window in he lost it.
A youngster has been badly hurt, stories were being spread of 3 people dying at the seen and 10 others being on life support.

The police have said the parade had finished and the incident didn't even occur on the route.
I don't the know the person, but those royal signal lads were murdered by provos at the funeral were both experienced soldiers armed and they still panicked.

Not defending that kind of mob behaviour but I can understand anger levels being through the roof if you’ve just witnessed people being run over first hand.

I know we’re only speculating at the moment but it looks like he didn’t initially set out to harm anyone. However, the situation quickly escalates when fans are giving him grief and call it panic, anger, or whatever, he puts his foot down. Now I can understand him wanting to get away if he fears for his own safety but some of the footage appears to show him deliberately veering off and driving into people in trying to do so.

2. It was a funeral it was not a parade
3. The funeral was for people who had been killed at a previous funeral

They were wearing civilian clothing too. Those attending the funeral thought they were loyalist paramilitaries trying to carry out another attack. Sadly another horrible incident during the Troubles.
