Thorn is an understatement. I implore anyone who didn't watch: go at least check out the highlights from that game. He was dominant.

Really made me believe he was a future star.
Just watched the highlights…from that alone he was outshone by the england number ten(2assists and one goal for our very own mcatee who i dont really rate) and the french number ten(an assist and a belting ball for the first). Im not saying you are wrong, just saying i was expecting more(his goal was terrible). Have never seen him play in general i must add but those highlights didnt get me excited.

I was never a Cherki fan before this season.

Felt he was the same player at 17 that he was at 20. Speed/quickness issues. Attitude and effort issues.

However, something clicked this season. I became a fan with some of his performances. He is still limited with quickness but he has grown a lot. Effort is more consistent, decision making is more consistent and he has also shown intangible qualities like leadership. Some of his game now is so similar to Merlin.

Something clicked this season and his growth is good for football because he's been routed and on football's radar for so long.

Price is really good. He already hates United. Only 21. Go get the lad.

Can’t help but feel this won’t happen but probably the transfer I want to happen the most this summer.

His ceiling is legitimately higher than Wirtz for me and if I had the choice, I’d choose this kid all day. We definitely have space in the squad in terms of characteristics he has, we are missing but unsure if we’ll land him. We need to sell +1 foreign player to make an attacker happening than we expect to leave. IE an Akanji, Bernardo, Kovacic, Nunes.

Too much of a bargain not to be asking about the ‘exit costs’ as the links has worded it today.

I’d be amazed if we hadn’t been sniffing around. I’m sure he has the pick of the majority of clubs out there.

Would love it to come to fruition, though!

Welcome Sam! Appreciate your input.

Can you clarify what you think his best position is? He seemed to have spent most of his time on the right, but I think we're intending to play him centrally. Likewise, do you think his style of play fit's pep's possession style? He will face a lot of low blocks in the prem. Do you have any concerns about his physicality and how well he can adapt to the pace of the PL?
My pleasure!

for me his best position it's at the right side center but not like a winger who must shave the line like Sterling or Salah but rather like Palmer, have a freedom to move charge from animation and creation in a 4.3.3 i see it well in right relayeur

..............Haaland.....

Marmoush.........Foden

.........Reijnders...Cherki....

...................Rodri...........

or as a number 10, rather axial behind Haaland in a 4.2.3.1

..............Haaland.........

Marmoush.Cherki.Foden

......Rodri.........Reijnders.

for me he is more suited to a team that plays possession and plays high than a team that plays low with counterattacks and quick transitions, that's why I think it will work well with City's style of play and the game advocated by Pep, on one condition, continue his improvement in working without the ball, it was his biggest flaw but for 18 months and especially since this 2024/2025 season he has progressed a lot in this register, that's what he opened the door for the EDF (the French national team), Didier Deschamps is the most uncompromising coach with work rate and defensive involvement, and he must continue to progress on this point if he wants to become a starter in the Manchester City team under Pep, the team has regressed a lot in pressing since the integration of haaland, 2 players who are not efficient in their runs will pull the team down, he is on the right path, he must continue.

As for his adaptation to the Premier League, I have no worries about that. He is a very solid player with good support, especially when he has the ball. He rarely gets moved. Despite his morphology, which can be misleading, he is not slow at all.

I hope this one is true, nothing to lose at this price, and the lad obviously has some immense potential, whether he will end up fulfilling it or not.

If both McGrath and Romano (higher-tier journalists) are saying we’re interested, I’d like to say it’s relatively true.

IMG_1588.jpegI’ve generally been a fan of the MGW signing, but if it’s a significantly better #10 for £20m instead of paying £70m for him, I’d snap him up in a heartbeat.

People might focus on the fancy flicks and controls, but the bit that caught my eye was when he paused play and came back to recycle possession. In an instant, he could see the bigger picture and knew England held the advantage so better to go back and retain possession. That's the kind of thing Guardiola appreciates.

Be careful with the Romano tweet. As earlier indicated by Tolmie, he's simply quoted McGrath in his post most likely to garner engagement. Rather than an exclusive, where we could really get excited about.

Trying to temper my expectations on this one, as have been on the Cherki bandwagon for quite a while now.

Even if he did quote mcgarth thats no bad thing, mcgrath called the grealish ommission 1st so he has some info

Thats why i excluded Rodrygo. We have lots of very talented players that need to rise. So best we not add their yet and see what levels they rise to.

We have a few wildcards:
Oscar Bobb and EcheMessi ) I want to see what they have before crowding the attack any further) both can play the Cherki and Reijnders roles

True wingers: Doku, Savihno.

True CMs neckups: Gonzalez, Kova and Gundo.

How are you meeting the home grown quota here?

There is no strict HG quota. You can have as many as you wish (within squad size rules). The quota is on non-HG players.

You could have zero HG players but it would obviously restrict the squad size.

Break the bank for him if that’s true
