Tevez and Kun were born cracks, extremely talented players that where more "mediapuntas (off mids)/forwards with goal" than full blown strikers, even if City got the more lazy striker alike version of Kun after Atletico's more dinamic version.
Alvarez even not being born that talented, progresses year after year getting better and has a great all around game and attitude in the pitch and lockerroom. He looks like those players that become "cracks" due to adding layers to their game in their carreers, he looks a lot like this sort of player. He rarely gets injured too, if any, that's quite rare, given his hsutling and pace.
People complaining here regarding his touch in City and that by the end he wasn't as good as he started.
Kind of forget that he maybe was too much of a nice guy when between Bernardo, Jack and company and even when Palmer got time, bar Foden and Erling and an ocasional more risky attemp from Kevin, they barely passed the ball in advantaged situations to him.
He was constantly hustling, used as decoy to play Erling and running to space time and again without receiving much and played like jake for all trades while still hustling like a mad men by Pep when injuries started to arise.
Not precisly the best scenario for him, neither in fact is Aleti, yet at least he is more involved in the game by his mates and they have a more direct approach.
BTW it's Pepball and noone can criticize his approach, he just uses players in the way he needs them, no matter if it fits the best profile of the player in question, no matter the name pof them bar very very few exceptions.
In the fist season where he was very electric and positive, he made most of his goals after scraps, a rebound, a long strike, etc.. by the end of his tenure in City, he looked really tired at times even still hustling and not sharp enough. This had to do in part of how much football he had played between River, NT and City non stop, yet he also looked a bit tired too of the whole situation.
Pep should have kept him and when he was gone, properly replaced him asap, Marmoush came to late.
PD1: Regarding Marmoush being "clearly better", "higher cealing"...well that's a bit too much and over the top, given he is one year older and already running from behind.
He isn't remotely close in terms of titles (even if not entirely fair given their respective NTs, yet Julian it's far from a passenger in those and requires some personality to wear and deliver with all those shirts).
Julian also has a tendency to deliver in big games (with goals involved or not, rarely a passenger) and neither is precisly a prolific goalscorer/classic striker so far in their carreers, with even Julian having a tad better percenteage both in goals and assists.
Everyone is entitle to their own taste, yet there is quite some underrating of Julian and overrating Marmoush at this point of their carreers with such statements.
PD2: If he leaves Aleti, the money must be sthg really big to tempt the Club.
The two more logical destinations would be first Barcelona, he fits like a glove there and to a lessser extent Liverpool, they would not be adding a prolific goaslcorer that they actually need, yet having Mac Allister and Alvarez's all around style will suit there.
Manchester United would be quite a surprise, a huge one, do not see that one at all. Arsenal it's more a desire from them than Julian for sure and would imply another risky challenge like Aleti was last year, Barcelona and Liverpool look more like easier bets.
Of all the possible options, the first one it's Aleti reinforcing, building with him at the core of the off mid/attack role a new team or Barca coming like in the past to snatch him.
They are too big, they have a new fantastic core with Pedri, Yamal and cia, their style it's better for him like once was River and he stays with his familiy in a country with a better weather and his language.
The main issue, will be the money Barca lacks and Simeone and Aleti fans certainly not liking this a bit. Aleti fans certainly would deal better with him going there than sthg like Madrid and like it happened in the past for them, they might squezze Barca financially, yet Barca it's not having the bucks to squeeze them, it would all be more a question of what player Barca throws in the mix and Julian willing to join a team that looks like starting a possible legacy with a style that fits him like a glove and viceversa.
Sorry for the long rant
