City has got a fantastic track record in supporting its local community. Far and away the best in this country and always has been.

I sort of thought the same myself. No utd or lfc or arsenal hence no coverage in this country. But tbh this country has never liked the club world cup. We dont cover it in general.

It's one of things the media ignore. Billion pound regeneration of the area around the stadium along with the great work CTIC do on a daily basis is always ignored.

I wonder how it’s being viewed in Spain? I imagine it will get attention there Real Madrid in it.

This is the slightly editted landing page when you click on Mr Stone's name on any article he's written, listing all the articles over time that a 'Chief football news reporter' does.

There are more than the 4 articles shown per page, but limitations on upload size has limited the screenshot.
But I think you can probably see a theme on the subject matter that the "Chief football news reporter" churns out.

Each page has 24 articles.
Page 1: Articles that are directly about United:21, Articles that include about United:1, Articles that aren't united:2
Page 2: Slightly better, a staggering 9 articles are not about United.
Page 3: Going down, 8 articles are not about United.
Page 4: ...and so it continues.

I'd thought he was anything but "chief" before, but to have 2/3 of every article you put your name to being about united, with the rest (1/3) generally putting the boot into City ('what does pep do now?', type of thing), and then a scattering of other random bits about Chelsea, Tottenham, West ham, Brighton...

Needs to be called out at every stage, a single mediocre team out of 20 in the PL, gets 2/3 of the output from the 'chief'...bollox to that bias.

It's certainly not to be sneezed at - and, dare I say it, the marketing potential that goals with it (it's certainly better than a pre-season tour).

I honestly think that there's no-one in charge of the sports department, just a collection of writers doing their own thing.

Yep, and that’s why it’s a Channel 5 job to watch it, and not one of the bigger channels.

From what I have heard that is essentially true. There is no accountablity for the Dan Roans of this world. He fills his Twitter (x) feed with politically biased content and personal opinions and no one challenges it.
 
Clearly when your "chief football news reporter" goes abroad to cover a post season friendly for a bottom third PL team rather than going abroad to cover a British team in a European final, it's fairly clear how Michael H Mouse it's become....

I'd feel a lot better served by them putting his title as Manchester United Reporter. Then he's not pretending to be somethng he's not.

EDIT: Apparently the BBC have an Asian Football Writer. John Duerden. Begs the question again why the Chief Football News Reporter felt the need to attend...
