Europa Conference League Final 2025 | Real Betis v Chelsea | Wed 28th May '25

How was that lucky? That was a well deserved win by the better team on the night.

True, I wouldn't say you were lucky and anyway if you were so long as you win nobody cares. I would say Pep totally fucking up our selection and the thug Rudiger not being sent off for his assault on Kev helped but, Rudiger aside, none of that was your concern.

Oh no, I'm not opening up that can of worms again haha.

But yes, I think Pep fucked up but I also think Tuchel got his stuff spot on. Thinking back, to win the CL with Havertz and Werner as your main starters up front takes some special coaching.

I don't blame you it's gone now but it was a strange decision not to red card him. On the officials though.

It helped we had no proper holding midfielders and a badly misfiring out of form Sterling upfront but you did your job and won which is the name of the game.

That was some feeling that final whistle. I’d looked forward to that game all day after being unable to sleep. The day went on forever and as soon as I saw that team sheet the energy just zapped out of me.

At least we made up for it a few years later.

Every single City fan felt the same on seeing that team sheet.

Hmmm you won - so any counter argument is ultimately futile - better team hmmm debatable??
Havertz scoring is always lucky though.

It's not really debatable imo. We were the better team on the night and we fully deserved to win the final. I haven't really seen too much disagreement with that anywhere, even from City fans, so if you disagree, it feels like you're in a minority even amongst your own fans.

I don’t know anyone who thought we should have won that. From the moment the team sheet was put up, any hope we had vanished in a dash.

And I was a nervous mess all day but when I saw the line up, I was still nervous because it was still City and Pep, but I felt a little better about our chances.

But enough derailing the thread :)

I'm a bit nervous for this game tbh. Failing to win the conference league would be embarrassing.

I’ll be watching and whilst I wish you luck, I don’t want anything but a Betis win - purely because of Pellegrini.

Bloody tough choice tonight.

Either you support the team that comes from a country that have won every final in the last 20 odd years and have that rag bastard playing for them.

Or the odious Chelsea.

Feel myself slightly leaning towards Betis as the underdogs.

Ever since I attended a Betis game in ‘87 I’ve always preferred them. The guy who took me to the game introduced me to the club priest and we watched the game with him.

He was a knowledgeable football fan and told me he’d seen City play in the late 60’s and was a big fan of Bell and Lee! I remember being amazed that he knew anything about us!

Chelsea fans warming up, I see.....

I can’t begin to describe how shocked I am.

I mean in this clip I can very clearly see the green and white tops of Betis fighting with people dressed in all black. I've seen other clips from Wroclaw of men dressed in ballys (most likely local ultras) throwing missiles at groups of Betis fans. I'm yet to see any clips of Chelsea fans doing anything wrong.
