Foreign Doctors

You are literally mocking an Austrian accent in your original post, like some kid on a playground.

Don't think it's me who needs to do the growing up.
I did not mock at all, merely reported a funny incident and invited readers to draw their own inferences. You obviously simply noted your own pre determined response unjustified by anything I posted. Assuming others’ motives is a very common error of an immature mind. Read the responses of the other posters.

To be fair, "Judge the following incident" isn't particularly indicative of an incoming funny incident. The interwebs isn't very good at nuance

Its an issue that stretches beyond the medical profession, lady i know went to a foreign tattooist for a tribute to her idol Cher, ended up with a chair on her arm. Very detailed mind, clearly talented.

Underneath was printed: “Armchair”

Foreign doctors working in the NHS are supposed to be able to speak English. Judge the following incident.
The GP who looks after my back and hip problems is Austrian. She spoke to Mrs KS on the phone the other day:
Doc:”How much does your husband wee?”
Mrs KS: “What???”
Doc: “I need to know how much your husband wees.”
Mrs KS: “ Do you want that in pints, litres, or visits?”
Doc: “ Eh???”
Mrs KS asked : “Tell me again what you need to know.”
Doc: “I need to know your husbands weet.”
Mrs KS “ Do you mean how much he weighs?”
Doc: “Yes, what’s his weet?”
Mrs KS “I’ve no idea.”
Exeunt omnes.
Your wife has no idea what you weigh but was willing to offer an accurate measurement of how much you piss in either pints or litres?

Not everyone has gone fully metric yet, thank goodness she wasn't asked in a hilarious Germanic accent just how much poop he produced :)

I’m sick of going to the Doctors and being asked “do you drink alcohol?” followed by “how much?”

I had a toe ulcer recently, a really bad one btw, open up the photo if you’re not squeamish. The first question the Asian Practitioner (not a Doctor btw) asked was about my alcohol intake. She then proceeded to google my condition and said it looked like gout, she wouldn’t give me antibiotics but put me on a course of Naproxin which did no good whatsoever. I was in agony, ended up at the Walk In Centre a few days later where I was seen immediately, put on Antibiotics and referred to a podiatrist for 5 appointments to remedy my ailment.

The Podiatrist told me I was lucky as the ulcer could have caused real problems untreated. I saw three Podiatrist, white Spanish lad, black South lad African and a lass from Grimsby, all spot on, couldn’t fault them.

Alcohol wasn’t mentioned so I think the problem isn’t anything to do with race more a thing that some like the Practitioner I saw are brought up in an environment where booze is looked on as being evil and it’s the easiest thing to blame.

Thanks for sharing the disgusting picture btw.

GP’s are targeting excessive alcohol intake in men, as it’s the biggest cause/co-cause of health issues in older men that can easily be prevented or reduced…it’s not you being personally targeted, it’s just health guidance they are following. Afaik.

The many decades simplistic rule of thumb of 21 units per week for men and 14 (iirc) for women, is … just that.. a rule of thumb (doesn’t take into account size, age, genetics), that is something everyone can grasp as a ‘healthy limit’.

Whether people do… is clearly not the case .. <holds hand up>… so gp’s ask the question and hope to change the habits of their patients…

I'm more amazed that a busy doctor has time to do that standard of make-up before a shift.

Indeed, she should invest in a make up gun.
