It's Quiet the £250m return

Absolute nonsense!
I love the way you say that but don’t refute any of the 3 shortcomings I highlighted.

So is he not slow, not crap in the air and not crap at passing?

I just don’t see how the old “playing in a settled side” is going to suddenly change any of this.

He’s bang average, imo, and we need better than him.

He played 30 PL games when we won the title the season before this. Can't have been too far off decent then?

This season has been different for many. A more consistent starting lineup and he may get back to his heights.
I just think he’s average, mate, and that he can be drastically improved upon.

Dias is still our best defender.
Yes but gvardiol has the better scope if he stays at centre back.Dias has had a couple of poor seasons now he regularly gets caught out because of his lack of pace in a high line and his passing has deteriorated. Hopefully with more pace in midfield and rodri back this will help. But if not especially at cwc we need to have a look at khusanov , bah and rheiss.

We had 15 first team midfielders on the books last season, 17 if you want to include the two lads on loan. It’s completely ridiculous.
Though that is true, it includes players who are really forwards - Bobb, Doku, Savinho, McAtee, and, no doubt, some who are playing in defence!

Fair enough.

I think the more space he's given to cover the more average he gets, it highlights his limitations.

The penalty he gave away against Villa... while not much of a penalty, it all wouldn't have happened if he'd challenged Rashford out wide straight away, but he just kept backing off because of his lack of pace.

I do like his character though - if he were to leave someone would have to step up as a leader back there.

Can’t fault his character, definitely a leader and vitally important when we’ve played such a dysfunctional back 4 in the last months of the season. I just can’t get past his limitations, and think that we should have someone better alongside Gvardiol moving forwards.

Ye totally agree about Bobb, I didn’t even notice him until I’d posted haha. His stock is as high as it’s ever gonna be amongst the fans, can’t possibly get any better for him.

Some city fans have unconditional love for some players regardless of performance.
Maybe it’s called being a “supporter “

We have to read between lines bro. pep relied upon him last year. Thats why there were no signings apart from savinho. The main reason for that is we had bobb (and Mcatee as well). But the main factor was oscar bobb. he showed his quality in pre season as well.

Was going to respond with facts but can see what you doing! Won't be replying to anyone more of your posts so carry on posting fake news..

It was the only error to goal he’s made all season. IMO. I’m used to it. How many of our defenders give away goals. We’ve been conceding lots of goals for a while now. Even before Pep. What we can’t do is create. This new system should have players that can create from fullbacks midfielders and wingers. There’s nothing to suggest he can’t improve with time and coaching. He’s still no.1 when it comes to tackling dribblers itl. 6/10 in defending but 9/10 in attacking balances itself out. When I think about it, who else is out there
Kerkez - has little technical ability, just got good spamming crosses
Theo.H - passive defender, 28, inconsistent but faster stronger and more of a wingback
Robinson - older, very solid, but still conservative, and homegrown
I’d stick with Nouri, he can make the leap to being WC.

He's been included in the Fifpro World 11 twice already, so he can't be that bad.
