I was once told by a medical professional that it was much less than 24 hours. 4 to 6. Whereas I was told coke (somewhat counterintuitively) stays in your saliva for much longer.

Even if that's the case (and I'm not doubting you), my main point stands... the driver wasn't necessarily off his tits at the time like so many people have been assuming. Anyway, it will all come out in the trial.

Not necessarily. There are several defences to criminal damage. Some contained within section 5 the Criminal Damage Act 1971, some based on developing case law.

Defence of another (or others) being a non-statutory one. Depends on the necessity and proportionality of the action.

I imagine you don't get away with criminal damage because a slow moving car, stuck in the wrong spot beeping and trying to navigate through annoyed you a bit. That one guy with the bag shouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Gordon has alluded to it-I'd be v surprised if anyone is arrested let alone charged with damage/public oredr in relation to this part.

Now if it is deemed to be the trigger for it that would be another matter-but that is v unlikely.

Exactly. I imagine there's a defence for pretty much any charge if you look hard enough for one. Aside from the damage to the car they're also distracting the driver by putting his window through etc. How they or anybody else can genuinely believe that would help the situation is beyond me. Would they have acted like that individually? Highly doubtful.

The drivers acted like a **** we can all agree on that. He will get what is coming to him. I know I wouldn't have ended up mowing people down, but I genuinely don't know how I'd have reacted if my car was getting attacked by all sides. Stay stationary? No... Get out the car? Certainly not. That's having time to think about it, not being on any drugs and having to act in the moment.

My post wasn’t aimed at any particular individual, and I would have thought what I posted in the final sentence underlined that.
