Rayan Cherki

Something thats standing out to me with Cherki and Reijnders from the bits I've seen (admittedly limited) and the obvious youtube videos, is that they're both happy taking shots from further out. Both have a decent amount of goals from those positions. Maybe Peps thinking if teams are going to drop off deeper into their box and surrender that space on the edge of the area then we could do with players willing to shoot from those positions
I always think back to that Arsenal home game when we were camped on the edge of their box all 2nd half and Bernardo, Kovacic etc just kept passing side to side and we created nothing. We absolutely need more players who will pull the trigger especially now KDB has gone.

i do like all the players on Hugos list have all been 'How did get his to the #9? asap" looking players even the #6s and FBs we linked are all progessive as fuck

I'd agree with all apart from Livramento. He's a good solid full back but he could do with some work on his crossing. In almost 100 league appearances he only has 3 assists. Thats not to say he can't improve upon that but just to say its not something he's known for. I don't mind that too much though as we'll hopefully have Ait Nouri on the other side who will very much provide the assists

That was the one that sprang to mind as well amongst a few others. Palace in the cup final is another big one as well. Its not like we need Reijnders and Cherki to be banging them top corner from outside the box each week. They just need to show we're capable of scoring those sort of goals and teams will soon stop letting us have it there and push men up which will in turn free up space for Haaland and/or Marmoush.

Forgot about him was thinking of Wesleys game, do like Livra alot though but chances are slim on that one.,

Rayan Cherki would be an excellent signing—a young, skilful playmaker with elite dribbling ability, close control, and the vision to unlock defences with key passes. At just 20 years old, he has the potential to develop into a world-class talent, and for a fee of around €20 million, the financial risk is minimal despite some concerns over consistency and defensive work rate.

His creativity and flair make him a high-upside investment, and in the right system, he could flourish into a superstar. For that price, he’s absolutely worth the gamble.
Bold prediction

Think that’s very unfair on the French league.

Also the reason why he is cheap is due to Lyon’s financial troubles and the fact that he’s got a year left on his contract.
These conversations always need context…

If we are intent on getting back to been an elite team, then we need to sign 3 or 4 world class players that will start every game. That's at the least.

He isn't that. Now, it could be argued we put him into the “give the lad a chance bracke” like we did for Phillips, nunes, doku, savinho etc.

However we are way past that point, we can't afford that risk anymore.

He's good in tight spaces, highly technical, but has none of the pace, power and aggression we badly lack in the team.

His stats are his stats, but you do have to take them with a pinch of salt. How many times have we seen amazing stats from lesser leagues.

I just think we need to aiming way better.

Who would you be going for?

So how come he's been picked for the French squad to play Spain, you melt?
Relax old bean!

Playing for ones country doesn't make you the world class talent we need.

You don't need to be so defensive (unless your his agent) , I just don't think he's the type and level of player we need.

Don't get so attached to these rumours. It will be some other player tomorrow.

Honestly, I think that's a tough one, not sure there is a ready made signing! That doesn't make him the right signing though does it?

I'd rather we bought top quality in positions we really need like full backs, and be patient on finding the right wide options as and when.

Don't get me wrong, if we get the top top players we need, yeah bring him, not expensive, see what happens, I just think we need real proven quality at this stage in positions where we can get it.

This signing 3 years ago…i totally get it, from a position of strength.

Info @lequipe
There's no agreement between Cherki and City, who have made the Lyon player their priority at number 10. The Citizens have made inquiries with former coaches, notably Pierre Sage, and could make an initial offer next week.
