He is however on the way up unlike the other two.

Difficult to project where he'll be in 2 years but probably worth a gamble

I think that's probably my biggest disappointment with us in the transfer market, I get why signing potential had to be our model pre and mid pep, but once we had elevated ourselves I feel like we missed a trick in not kicking on and actually buying “off the peg players”

Especially when your in a good position. That's my worry now, we don't really have room for error, the team and squad are such that we really need Top signings, as close to as sure thing as we can.

Plus I don't think he's the style of player we need. We have plenty of players who show to feet and are good in small spaces, we need aggressive physical fwd runners.

Just my thoughts for what it's worth.

Wide players? I was honest, it is hard to think of someone who is the ideal fit.

I'd probably preference power and speed over technique though, as our team needs a better balance.

Rodrygo, maybe but I'm not convinced, he's a bit powder puff, and he's not worth the big money.

Semenyo has impressed, big, physical strong, different to what we have.

I don't think that right side is our priority neither, foden, bobb and savinho is better than the options on the other side, assuming grealish goes, its only really doku.

Full backs are a must for me.

What do you think? Not think we need some real pace again? Players that will get ahead of the ball?

I think it's not constructive if you're going to say he's not good enough and we need to sign a top player in that position, but there aren't any you consider to be good enough.

We have pace in attack. Savinho, Doku, Haaland, Nunes are among the fastest players in the league. Bobb and Foden are also very quick.

We lack guile. We relied on Gundogan to unlock Fulham. I think Cherki has a high ceiling but is risky, so a low fee represents fair value.

I saw some people on this forum sharing videos on Rayan Cherki, from big YouTube channels, but I would like to share 2 videos made by actual Lyon fans on Cherki

The first one is a 30 minutes (!!) video on what Cherki did this season (yes this 30 minutes video only covers the current 24/25 season), this is the best if you want to really know the player :

 
I do wonder if this means livramento will be the home grown target rather than Gibbs white. We need hg options and I wonder if the club think it’s better to get this guy in and sign livramento rather than gibbs white and alt nouri.

Both would cost roughly the same imo and are obviously on the full back and cam list of options. Just a thought

Well the construct of my point (you might have missed it earlier) if the player isn't out there, you don't sign anyone. Nobody is better than another mistake.

We are in no mistake territory. A few seasons back, I agree, take a chance see what happens. We did that with Nunes and doku, and its turned sour.

So if the player isn't there, hold back and look to bring in players from other positions, we need plenty.

We have a chronic lack of pace and power. Very few willing to run in beyond.

We have some quick players agreed, but with the exception of haaland they lack the power needed with it.

My other concern is he occupies a similar position to Foden, likes coming off the left into central areas.

I'd rather concentrate on getting back the old Phil and spend the money elsewhere.

If we get other players we need, too players, then fair enough, take a punt.

Its just, we've taken a lot of punts in the last few transfer windows and its not been great.

Fingers crossed, I've got egg on my face.

Its Doku and Marmoush on the left, Foden Savio and Bobb on the right.

I suppose you'd be more interested in someone like Leal?

I like the idea of Cherki. He is different from what we have and would be a better player to have playing against low blocks than say Semenyo... Who is cleary NOT; our level and highly unlikely to succeed in tight spaces.

I'll grant you that i do worry about his potential athleticism, energy and urgency.

None of thos suggests by the way that we should not focus on getting Phil bevk to top end.

Also, i think we'll get the full backs. Definitely a leftback and potentially a RB.

Personally, i think improvements in Nunes and Lewis can solve the RB problem. Left back I hope Ait Nouri or Robinson. And we should be set there.

Yeah, I'm not 100% convinced by semenyo, but he is more the type of player id like us to get, just to get a balance.

I might get battered for this as well…
Ait Nouri…love watching him play, highly technical, great at beating the press, but his biggest weakness is our biggest defensive weakness...pace!

Marmoush, he is best as a second striker, he'd have been unreal in the 90’s.

I don't think he's proved as effective in his career so far, out wide right. More somewhere between hanging off the CF and the right.

We could do that, but it means changing our blue print. Not sure he's good enough to warrant that change.

On a positive note, it sounds like we are getting the business done early which is a lot better.
