It's Quiet the £250m return

The only way we get rid of John Stones is retirement on medical grounds.
No club will pay a transfer fee or pay his wages whilst he is incapable of playing.

Think the rumoured targets make it fairly obvious we need to make room in the main list ,not the homegrown list, priority will be that apart from Grealish. I’d guess we might let Grealish and Stones go, but wouldn’t be surprised if we only replaced one of them on the HG list and went with 3.
Maybe but someone else would still need to go from the NHG list.

By the end of the summer, obviously.

KDB leaving does’t leave space anyway need a couple more out for that, leaving for Cherki, take your pick from Gundogan, Kovacic, Bernardo, Nunes, probably at least 2 of them.
Need to move on at least 2 or 3 CBs too. Unfortunately the most likely candidates (Doyle, Stones and Ake) are all HG. Maybe will have to be a loan or two for younger players.

Well KDB out Rudolph in works but no indication of any other exchanges yet. Who leaves for Cherki? Somebody has to.
It only works if we don't register the likes of Reis, Kushanov, Echeverri etc.

We were one over with KDB. Now we are at the limit. If all of our current players are to be registered.

With a year left as well I just see us sticking with John Boy for the year and let him leave/negotiate with fairer terms to us.

He will yes , but Lijnders was Klopps number two and the respect that Pep has for Klopp I’m sure he will listen to his ideas and tactics, it’s all about bringing new ideas
And we all know Pep is devoid of ideas.

Hope we leave the MGW deal alone.
When the pressure was on v Chelsea he went completely AWOL and it looked as if the pressure of the occasion really got to him.
Good player in an average team but certainly not worth the numbers being touted for City.
The advantage of MGW is that he would almost certainly improve City's midfield because he has the experience of playing in the Premier League which is far more intense than leagues like Serie A and La Liga. The one problem I have with signing players like Reijnders and Cherki is that they may look perfect on their stage but MGW has performed over 2 seasons in the PL.

Up until a fortnight ago, I didn't know who Reijnders and I don't know much about Cherki either but just look at the the quality of teams like Athletic Bilbao and Real Betis vs Man Utd and Chelsea. Apparently Antony is tearing it up in La Liga but he couldn't get a kick against Cucurella. Savinho scored goals for fun last season in La Liga. They gave him space.

There are top players in Europe but there is an advantage to buying players from your own league.

This guy would definitely get people off their seats.
City need the physicality in midfield and a solid defence to even play players like Doku.

City adopted a more conservative setup after getting KO'd by Real Madrid. The tactics changed to the two fullbacks instead of open systems involving Doku, Savinho, Marmoush and Haaland. That came back in for the FA Cup Final, possibly because Kovacic was out, and we lost.

Kalvin Philps and Nunez (while been alright at rb not his position) prove evidence that tactic doesn't always work and we have alot of evidence from previous signings that say if we buy the right players they will work in PL. Im supre people wouldn't argue if we were talking bruno g at Newcastle, MGW just seems like a philips level signing in my opinion.

One thing worth keeping in mind

We are currently at our squad limit of 17+4.

Excluding Foden, Bobb, McAtee, O'Reilly. And also Echeverri.

Excluding on loan players. And Kev.

People do need to leave. If any of the HG players leave (Grealish, Stones, Carson, Ake) they can only be replaced by hg/ct players, but that doesn't change the limit of 17, some still need to leave from that category if new nhg players are to come.
Has anyone done the “17 list”? Just interested to see who I don’t think will still be in it.
