Pep Ljinders appointed as assistant coach | James French joins as set-piece coach (p15)

If relying less on older players and slower build up and instead adopting a more expansive style, then it makes perfect sense to recruit coaching staff with experience of working and developing players in such a style.

The Stones clearance game for me was the greatest game of football I've ever seen. Those 2 teams gave everything and whilst both had a different style , they were both absolutely top class and on that day we're the 2 best teams in Europe by a mile. they would've thrashed any other team from any other era that night.

The quality of the game was incredible and if he can bring some of Klopps ideas to the Etihad and helping us to play more direct then it will be a massive boost for us. I do think Pep needs someone with a different perspective and I also wonder if he needs a rival like Klopp to get the absolute best out of him. Pep v Klopp was incredible to watch.
I have a digital version of this match. If anyone is interested in a copy, PM me

I read something about this a couple of days ago and when no one mentioned it on here I thought it was another daft rumour.
I’m not certain I want an ex-scouser but hey ho what do I know! ;-) :-)

You know more than the vast majority on here bird

Interesting appointment if it comes off. He was clearly successful working with Bingo, who similar to Pep is hugely intense. But the footballing approach of Pep and Bingo are fundamentally different. So is he coming potentially as just the foil for Pep, or are we intending to evolve to a faster style of football. Could be both of course. The scousers are very upset, which suggests to me he is a decent coach.
