Right back options

Seemed nailed on Wesley was coming in?

I wouldn't be surprised if that ship has sailed. Too many foreign players.

I reckon we want Livramento and will be willing to pay a heft fee for him, just not £80m hefty.

We need HG players or in the coming seasons we are going to be in a bad situation.

Nobbins did a great video on out scenario:

Certainly possible, and no doubt will be a formation we use some of the time. We've played a lot of games with both NOR and Nunes, though. And Gvardiol plays pretty high and wide at left-back, he doesn't really just play as a wide central defender
True. but its not just about Gvardiol's positioning when we have long-standing possession. It's an extra center-back for all phases. Set-pieces, duels, etc. where a CB offers more defensive security. Gvardiol in particular has fantastic pace and defensive instincts and generally didn't get caught out. Think he's more of a Unicorn footballer.

And I'd say its more likely we played that way (NOR/Nunes) because it was our only option... everyone else was injured lol.

What are the chances to price Djed Spence away ?

Seems like a player profile we are after + homegrown + can play multiple positions

Go get Aina he’s homegrown and a decent right back. Don’t think the fee would be that ridiculous

Nunes deputise at RB for a dozen games and we pretty much won them all, sure we'd cope when Aina is away at the AFCON
If we were going after a different left back, then yes Nunes at right back during that period isn't a bad position to be in. The issue with having Ait Nouri and Aina leaving at the same time is we'd also have O'Reilly, Ake or Gvardiol at left back on top of Nunes at right back. O'Reilly gets caught out more often than I'm comfortable with, Ake has big availability concerns and Gvardiol is going to be our first choice CB next season.

Aina being homegrown is massive, but his age means we're doing this all again next summer.

so the moment someone hits 30 he needs to be replaced? Also O’Reilly somehow needs gametime too

Look what's happened this season and come back to me regarding 30 year olds we don't get replacements lined up for. O'Reilly shouldn't be forced to play left back when he can play in the midfield and is good enough to get game time there.

The problem is that we didn’t have any fullbacks at all - not that someone got too old. Walker is 34. he was overdue. I get your reasoning but there‘s still a difference between having one and having no one. If Aina starts and plays good there is still Nunes for the right side unless he moves.

Just give 25-30m to Nottingham for Aina.. 1y contract left, home grown, there's no one around thats as accessible. Have no idea if he wants to move thoguh.. NF still trying to give him a new deal.

Ive looked around and come up with nada.. another non homegrown would be rougher.

Aina would be a good fit, but we have the money and time to play ball with Newcastle for Livramento. If Newcastle shoot the move down outright, then we should move on to Aina as we'll still need a homegrown player.

Problem is that the longer we wait the unrealistic Aina gets. I mean forest will most likely shit on potential 20M for his last year if that means that they keep their RB for the CL and another run for the top 6.

So basically 1 of Livramento or MGW has to join. Perfect would be both but we are too stacked in midfield so the RB has to be HG.
