I’d love to know the science behind measuring something that often doesn’t exist.

Ever looked up in the sky and noticed not all aircraft leave a contrail?

This shows how it’s virtually impossible to “plan” where this might occur, and, requires specific humidity and temperature to occur.

How do you model that in a highly dynamic air mass that is supposedly being warmed by human actions on the ground and naturally occurring changes in the atmosphere?

In a world where the atmosphere is supposedly heating up, doesn’t the heat LOWER the propensity for contrails, as shown above?

If aircraft fly in the “contrail zone” and temperatures are getting warmer through other human actions, surely the warmer air is creating LESS contrails, no?

And, isn’t it amazing how the EXACT SAME CONTRAIL is shown above as reflecting less solar energy back into the universe while acting as a “blanket” on outgoing energy.

Also, note the “External Factors” and realize that a significant portion of all long haul flights (they always seem to show 4 engines jets that are becoming obsolete, but…) are now not only flown using the most advanced, high bypass (ZERO EMISSIONS from the bypass!) TWO ENGINED turbojets that fly at night.

In short, it’s not only hard to measure, in such a dynamic “laboratory,” but engines are not only being reduced in number, but increased dramatically in efficiency by not only creating significantly more thrust from high bypass effects, but lighter aircraft and not using engine air for things like air conditioning on aircraft, which used to “steal” part of the thrust to not only pressurize the cabin, but keep it at the prescribed temperature. That efficiency is from using electricity instead of engine air.

And, I won’t even go into the biofuel question, as I’m not even sure it has any effect on contrails, per se, but rather the gases that are released into the atmosphere.

Lastly, when I said “Yes” to “Chemtrails,” it was correct, but an absurdity. ANY substance is made up of a chemical composition, thus ANYTHING we see coming from ANY object is, by definition, a trail of chemicals…a chemtrail…even if it is only water vapor made up of hydrogen and oxygen!

I'll have to see if I can find the slides from the presentation I saw - part of a general look at how aviation can reduce its environmental impact (even while the industry expands). But the top diagram is surely just a range of outcomes; it doesn't assess how likely each scenario is, so if science can better predict the conditions that create contrails then outcome 1 becomes easier to achieve. Re your last bit, there would be a "chemtrail" from the engines even if you couldn't see a contrail. (Apparently some see a plane making a contrail then hit the place on the curve where it doesn't and think the pilot has switched off the engines...)
 
Had a conversation with the dictator Putin that lasted over an hr. What was said. More than he summed up in three or four sentences that's for sure.

Also his travel ban excludes Egypt, the country when the perpatrator of the latest terrorist attack on US soil comes from, even tho he referenced the Collorado attack in his speech. That's logic for you.
