The reason pep doesn't want us to pass the ball too quick is because we don't have the legs in midfield for a highly transitional game. With the return of Rodri and the addition of Gonzalez, Reijnders, Ait Nouri and Livramento we have much more legs to deal with it. Add to that we'll hopefully see more of Khusanov as well who's one of the fastest players around at top speed. Why would someone like Bernardo always start or Foden never play through the middle - if they are not certain aspects Pep likes/ wants from his players?
People here defended Grealish for years that it was Pep who told him to keep the ball and that he was doing his job well. Now pep has no influence in whatsoever . He is the coach so to some sort they are playing how HE wants .
You can see it on the counter everytime. No other team would pass the ball back for the opposition to restructure. Can’t tell me Pep would allow this for months if that wasn’t the case.
