He would have done very well, but one wonders how the MAGAts would have dealt with him without his fearless leader.

As divided as the country is, it’s hard to see EITHER party not getting their 48%. The issue is how the other 4% shakes out…or more precisely, the 100,000 - 1M voters in the swing states that decide the election.

I am skeptical about Confucianism. Any historian or cultural scholar can claim that Confucianism is a very important part of the Chinese spiritual world. That statement isn’t wrong, but in reality, if you are Chinese, you don’t actually feel the presence of Confucianism. Many people don’t even know what Confucianism is.

As for Karl Marx, we don’t truly understand him either. We are essentially materialists, atheists, dialectical thinkers, realists, and nationalists. We use Marxist class theory to interpret the world. But I also doubt whether we truly understand Marxism.

I know it because...deepseek told me so,haha. What I mean is that foreigners' understanding of China is often somewhat distorted. Take Confucianism for example. What people imagine as Chinese culture seems to us kind of like Americanized Chinese food. But then again, we Chinese don't really 'feel' any particular Chinese culture in our daily lives. It's just... normal life, nothing special.
 
I was hoping Trump was going to get in on his second term, but so far all I can see is an absolutely self absorbed corrupt wuss, or he is playing everybody for fools. I am leaning much more to the former as I am sure everyone else is. This Trump/Elon thing feels like a social media promoted boxing fight....faker than Eastbenders. Or are they trying to invent a new form of propaganda?

For the ordinary Chinese, they are nervous(NO❌), everything they are seeing is new(no❌), it's like a movie(yes✔).
And for the leader, the main focus would always be on the domestic issue...I don't think these China-US relationship issue bothers them a lot. Trump is unpredictable, but he is easier to deal with. Easy to make the preparation.

I suspect the Chinese leadership know exactly how to deal with Trump. Make him feel important with a state visit = favourable trade deal. Promise a Trump building in Taipei when Taiwan is integrated = change in US policy. Easie peasie. For the rest, I doubt anyone in China is losing any sleep over Trump?

I think you’ll find that most people who possess a pair of eyes and ears aren’t leaning towards Trump being a self absorbed corrupt wuss, as they arrived there many years ago, and have remained there.

You probably need to consider changing your username in order to try and avoid inviting ridicule.

I hope he can come to Beijing on September 3rd to attend the parade. If he does come(though highly unlikely), it will be a historic moment, "the week change the world". For a man who want to be a world leader, this is a massive opportunity. hahaha

Your initial phrase - inconceivable.

Musk v Trump is very real, I'd say.

Trump being so restrained in his criticism of Musk also speaks volumes to the fact that Trump either knows that Musk has information on him, or that he just doesn't have a clue as to what data he did allow Musk to collect under the DOGE name. Both are likely true. Whether it's to do with his tax returns or with Epstein, time will probably tell.

During the first Signal chat debacle, I remember one of the administration saying something like 'Elon's checking it out', as though he was a one-man IT department, and the only person there who knew how to switch a computer not only off, but also back on.

They opened the doors to him without anybody having the faintest idea of the potential. No wonder Musk couldn't stop bouncing around like a lunatic ...
 
People actually going down the rabbit hole of thinking this spat is all part of a masterplan of Trump is so typical of the post truth times we live.

No it's not, it's actually what it is right there. Two knob heads in charge of billions of dollars and billions people arguing childishly on twitter. People voted for this.
 
Just had a glance at the first couple of pages on this thread, with some thinking how funny it would be if Trump were to get in.

Bet they're not laughing now?
