2025 Rugby League Season

Good to see Leeds beat Wigan yesterday, assisted by a Ryan Hall header on his 500th game. We are still lacking the firepower to be contenders though.

The crowds have been decent, averaging 15k over the first 3 games -admittedly against the Champs and 2 local derbies.

Should be ‘Great Britain’ though. That’s where the history lies with The Ashes.

I always remember, every time they had an Aussie on Super League Super Men, they would all always say the pinnacle of their careers was ‘playing State of Origin and playing Great Britain in The Ashes’.

They never said ‘the World Cup against England’ or ‘Tri Nations against England’.

The iconic Blue+Red Vs are what The Ashes should be.

I’ve still got this absolute classic GB shirt from 2007, probably my favourite ever kit.

Just came on here to mention that myself @Tim of the Oak

Hopefully City aren’t at home that day, will definitely got to that if we aren’t.
I’ve registered interest for both the Headingley and Liverpool test matches. Hedging my bets before we see our fixture schedule. Might have to buy for both games depending on when fixture lists are published.

Entertaining match. Not much in the yellow card.

Superb move for the Thewliss try. Sneyd is a great signing.

Where does everyone think that the "Magic Weekend" should take place ?
The RL hierarchy went to Leeds last year, which seems a bit too close to the heartland of the sport - so not a weekend away trip.

Sounds like they quite like it up in Newcastle. An RFL spokesman said they’re on the verge of signing up for next year up there again.

He reckons they sold 64,000 tickets over the weekend, which they seem quite pleased with.

I, selfishly wouldn’t mind it at the Etihad again. But I don’t think that’s on the cards in the near future.

Good atmosphere and game today played in the sunshine. Sneyd is so reliable with his kicking.

Wembley looks half full. Less than Oldham v Southend last week.
Is it time to keep the final up north? The Swamp or the Etihad?

You can tell these Rugby League players aren't as well media trained as footballers. Think that's 3 fucks from their players in the post match interviews live on BBC1 just now!

The commentator on the Beeb going on about Hull KR's 40 years of hurt. Try supporting Oldham, mate!

way, way overdue and I am happy for Sir Billy but in all honesty he should be the 3rd Knight - the way Rob was overlooked when he was alive and the way Sinners has been ignored is criminal.

Anyway well done Sir Billy Boston

Once again the mic'd up video ref illustrates the gulf between other sports and the farce that is VAR.
I think it is ace the way we hear the discussions and the rationale involved in the decision making process.

There isn't the involvement of the massive and influential SE Asian betting cartels in RL, hence the lack of clear and obvious results manipulation as in the PL - and most recently imo FA Cup final that footy attracts.

(I do enjoy a bit of RL,unfortunately the team I'm interested in wear red and when I used to attend matches * and Wembley in 71 to see a victory, it never felt right to me sporting that colour scarf....! These days I absolutely refuse to wear any item of clothing or jewellery containing red and I won't have the colour anywhere in our house, alternative Christmas tree decoration years excepted. I'll get me coat and go get a life....:-)

I have never owned any red clothing - my Dad forbade it when I was a nipper and I decided that red just doesn't suit me. Worst 6 years of my life were when because of the buying policy of the firm I worked for I had to drive two red Astra's as company cars one after the other. As soon as they relaxed the policy my next one was a blue one all be it a quite dark blue - after that all the cars I had were a shade of blue - its cleansing

Seemed on a role until the Good Friday draw, which they should have won and took a lot of support away too.

The plastic pitch seemed to zap them towards the end.
