Ref Wirtz/Cherki it's not about who's better, it's about who's the better fit. They've both obviously got talent, but one could hit the ground running whilst the other struggles to adapt.

And everyone, its 35 million Euros, stop quoting pounds.

Wirtz is definitely amazing and it sucks to miss out on him. Who is better between him and Cherki is impossible to say but Wirtz is more proven right now.

Cherki however has an uknown ceiling and his potential is just as high as wirtz. So to get him for the price we are is a no brainer.. Only time will tell who is the better player in the premier league.

If you check my history when I said Marhez would be the next player to leave I mentioned Wirtz. If Wirtz is available and from how highly I’m told he’s rated within the club I don’t doubt he will become a City player.’

Fast forward and we opted for Cherki…



On the whole Wirtz V Cherki debate, I think people overlook just how much pressure will be on Wirtz because of his price tag. That doesn’t mean to say he will fail. However the price tag means he’s got a fight on his hands.

Cherki on the other hand…

Freedom to settle and show just how good he is.

While I admire the glass half fullness of that…I can’t imagine they’re particularly bothered about disrupting a Nations League third place playoff? Especially when there’s been talk constantly all week.

I keep seeing comments from coaches and teammates of how Cherki seems to have switched attitudes and ‘zoned in’ a bit more this past season. Probably somebody we’ve been keeping an eye on for a couple of years and decided to pounce after a ‘coming of age’ season in terms of ability and mentality.

Fan of Cherki for years but compared to the first pages of this site it’s quite amazing to see how Cherki is now Wirtz lvl and how Wirtz isn’t THAT special anymore despite far superior feats.

Same here. Only recently heard of Cherki, Wirtz 2 seasons back I first heard of him.
