Missing for the afcon in December with marmoush so be be 2 players down for a while which isn't good !
We’ll still have Haaland, Foden, Cherki, Savio, Doku, and Bobb—all capable of playing across the front three. Savio, Bobb, Doku, and Cherki can rotate between LW and RW, which covers us well in the absence of Marmoush.

As for Rayan: if we manage to sign Livramento, that gives us coverage on both flanks since he can operate as both RB and LB. If Nunes stays, he can continue to provide RB cover—as he’s already done—while Livramento shifts to LB. We also still have Gvardiol, who can slot into LB if needed, allowing Dias to play LCB and Khusanov to take the RCB role.
Don’t forget O’Riley—he’ll be part of the equation too.

Yes I know it is not ideal to miss players in the grueling Dec schedule but we should be able to manage. It’s also unlikely both of them reach the AFCON final. One should be back within 2–3 weeks, and the other, at most, 4 weeks.

Not complaining about the price, it's obviously one we are more than comfortable with but he's got 12 months left on his contract which everybody seems to be ignoring.

£30+million for a fullback we could in theory get on a free next summer can never be considered a bargain.
Of course it’s a bargain.

A top end, PL proven player, in a position we are fucking desperate for.

30m is beyond a bargain.

Every year the AFCON happens, I think "Oh good, Liverpool will be without Salah for a month" and then when you actually look at it, he's out for about 2 league games and maybe a cup game.

And honestly, if we can’t manage with just two players away at AFCON for a couple of weeks—assuming the rest of the squad stays injury-free—then it would clearly point to a failure in squad planning and depth, and by extension, a failure in this transfer window (which I highly doubt will be the case). But that’s not the situation here. It’s clear that both Viana and Pep are fully aware of Rayan and Marmoush’s temporary absence and they have it covered. We’ll have more than enough quality and cover to manage during that short period.

The BBC article https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cp3qpzn1y32o is worth reading. It provides comparative stats to other defenders and shows that amongst that group he has the most goal involvements in the league and was 2nd for dribbles. That's particularly impressive given Wolves didn't score that many goals.

According to whoscored.com, Ait Nouri was equal top at Wolves for assists last season. From left back. That's impressive, or damning on the rest of their team depending on your point of view

Wolves had an option for another year which is up to them to trigger. So technically he has 2 years left as no doubt they would have taken up the option.

I like the signing and think the fee has the potential to be very great value. There are some concerns about his defensive ability but overall a very exiting signing with the potential to be a great LB for us.

But personally I wouldn't describe a defender being a part of the worst non relegated defense in the league as a "top end, PL proven player", even if he has impressive attacking numbers.

Hi, it's an easy one to answer as others have said Nunes was/is not so good as he thinks he is, but the main reason is as soon as he knew you guys were interested, he said something along the lines of if you don't let me go I will go on strike which is what he did by not turning up for training, as for Rayan i have already said he was my favourite player who has simply kept his head down and never kicked up a fuss even though he is allegedly one of the lowest paid players in our squad. I will continue to pop in to comment from time to time and look forward to seing Rayan bamboozle some of your opposition oh and by the way make sure you get that Champions title back in 2026, can't stand Arteta nor the scousers arghhhhhh.
Fair enough it's usually about how a player behaves in these circumstances. Although it would appear that Wolves are not in as strong a position to hold on to Rayan as they were with Nunes. Meaning he can just keep his head down and wait for everything to be agreed.
Another question is if Nunes isn't as good as he thinks he is, why did you all get so arsey about him wanting to leave?

FFS maybe we can finally stop playing Gvardiol out of position at LB - yes he's great going forward but IMO he gives up more goals on defense at LB against strong sides as he scores - a net negative.

Whereas a left CB, Gvardiol is world class.

I noticed Slimy Stone's sly digs about our spending in his piece about Rayan's imminent arrival on the BBC:

Can't help himself can he but at the end of the day he's another bitter utd fan who has seen the club win everything and then turn to shit.
He speaks in the same way as scholes, neville, the nobheads on YouTube, the pricks you meet in the pubs or at work, they all speak with a dummy in their mouths, can't resist getting a dig in, can't stand us doing better and being better than them and generally act like fuckin mardarses.

Let him and the rest of the softarses show themselves up for what they are, it keeps us amused.

In fairness, we have the bar set low - neither Josko nor Nico are much good defensively at left back. Hopefully, this guy is an improvement and he clearly has something as an attacker too.
